@ Jodie Cameron,

Thanks for the comments.

It is a bit of a tricky situation about whether laundries and kirchen should cohabit but for me at least, if I were looking for a home, I would not consider it and simply walk awy rather that live with the two rooms together but having said that, usually here in Australia for example, these situations are more rare I would think, so I have never personally heard or anyone I know that has this style of layout. I expect it's possible a city townhouse might have it as space is such a premium but I wouldn't live in a townhouse or the city by choice of course.

Hi Barbara,

The original discussion was about combining the laundry with a scullery, not with the kitchen. This is not something you would see much in the country where you have the luxury of endless space but in an inner city context it allows me to combine the laundry and the pantry into one room with enough room to move and actually save space since both of those rooms typically need at least 50% of the floorspace just for traffic.

I have also drawn laundries in cupboards in the garage and on the veranda. It sounds like that would suit you better.
