JAYEN INNOVATIONS Kitchens and Joinery

Smart storage, and minimalistic designs are often idealistic for small working spaces. The best designs are able to use the spaces efficiently with a great balance between contemporary or antique elements to refine the area. This usually goes hand in hand with a great layout concept for convenience, so that each section is easily accessible and simple errors like vanity doors scraping walls are avoided. Practical ways to achieve the ideal design are to incorporate well thought out tiling for the walls and flooring. I totally agree with keeping elements of the old design, so that it isn't too overwhelming and costly for the designer.

My builder didn't specify enough tiles for either ensuite or bathroom. We bought from a discount store, and ended up trying to get something which would coordinate at the last minute (and yes, we had bought the recommended extra for breakage). At that the tiler snuck in a grey sample tile in the blue bathroom which I didn't notice until too late. Wouldn't try to economise on tiles again - too important to be able to order more if someone makes a mistake.

I really like to have somewhere to put things down even if stuff lives in a cupboard. So the vanity on pedestal is useless and annoying to me. I much prefer the bench and smaller drawers because most of the things one stores and uses in a bathroom are small items. I am not sure that the new fashion for floating vanities is such a good thing: the unit must be safer sitting on the floor than hanging and it would be horrid if a child had it fall on them. The floor is easier to clean to the toe kicker than underneath to the wall which would be sensational dust catcher place! I feel one misses out on too much very much needed storage space.

Like the arobic ovens in upright stoves I believe we will be looking to replace the floating vanities and trying to fit wall oven towers again very soon!

Cheers Margot
