I have timber floors throughout but find them a pain to keep looking good behind the kitchen bench (water, food stains constant traffic. Would you suggest maybe a tiled portion in this area or would it be too busy

A large size linoleum "ant-fatigue" mat works wonderfully. Easy to clean and great on the legs!
