The goal of this remodel's design began with the homeowners dream to restore her cherished 1908 home to its vintage glory, updating it with Art Deco inspired touches while maintaining its original character and charm. In the kitchen; marble counters, unlacquered brass hardware, vintage mirrors, and a library ladder were used to accomplish the old meets new aesthetic. A custom hood with hand painted gold detail and a Lacanche French range are centerpieces of this timeless black and white kitchen. The show stopping powder room off the kitchen is a bright pop of color featuring Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon print wallpaper, vintage swan faucet, and a turquoise Cyan Design chandelier installed on the metallic gold ceiling. We are thrilled to announce that this project was featured in the April 2020 edition of Seattle Magazine.

Kids Bedrooms can be fun. This preteen bedroom design was create for a young girl in need o her own bedroom. Having shared bedrooms with hr younger sister it was time Abby had her own room! Interior Designer Rebecca Robeson took the box shaped room and added a much needed closet by using Ikea's PAX wardrobe system which flanked either side of the window. This provided the perfect spot to add a simple bench seat below the window creating a delightful window seat for young Abby to curl up and enjoy a great book or text a friend. Robeson's artful use of bright wall colors mixed with PB teen bedding makes for a fun exhilarating first impression when walking into Abby's room! This living room was inspired by the love of neutrals and an urge from the client to incorporate pops of colour.
Yellow and Gray was our launch palette. We soon found lovely visuals, to support our mission. We kept the furniture calm and serene then punched each piece with pops of fun sunshine yellow!!

Décor Aid
New Yorkers are always on the prowl for innovative ways to make the most of the space they have. An upper east side couple, challenged with a slightly narrow L shaped apartment sought out Decor Aid’s help to make the most of their Manhattan condo. Paired with one of our senior designer, Kimberly P., we learned that the clients wanted a space that looked beautiful, comfortable and also packed with functionality for everyday living.
“Immediately upon seeing the space, I knew that we needed to create a narrative that allowed the design to control how you moved through the space,” reports Kimberly, senior interior designer.
After surveying each room and learning a bit more about their personal style, we started with the living room remodel. It was clear that the couple wanted to infuse mid-century modern into the design plan. Sourcing the Room & Board Jasper Sofa with its narrow arms and tapered legs, it offered the mid-century look, with the modern comfort the clients are used to. Velvet accent pillows from West Elm and Crate & Barrel add pops of colors but also a subtle touch of luxury, while framed pictures from the couple’s honeymoon personalize the space.
Moving to the dining room next, Kimberly decided to add a blue accent wall to emphasize the Horchow two piece Percussion framed art that was to be the focal point of the dining area. The Seno sideboard from Article perfectly accentuated the mid-century style the clients loved while providing much-needed storage space. The palette used throughout both rooms were very New York style, grays, blues, beiges, and whites, to add depth, Kimberly sourced decorative pieces in a mixture of different metals.
“The artwork above their bureau in the bedroom is photographs that her father took,”
Moving into the bedroom renovation, our designer made sure to continue to stick to the client’s style preference while once again creating a personalized, warm and comforting space by including the photographs taken by the client’s father. The Avery bed added texture and complimented the other colors in the room, while a hidden drawer at the foot pulls out for attached storage, which thrilled the clients. A deco-inspired Faceted mirror from West Elm was a perfect addition to the bedroom due to the illusion of space it provides. The result was a bedroom that was full of mid-century design, personality, and area so they can freely move around.
The project resulted in the form of a layered mid-century modern design with touches of luxury but a space that can not only be lived in but serves as an extension of the people who live there. Our designer was able to take a very narrowly shaped Manhattan apartment and revamp it into a spacious home that is great for sophisticated entertaining or comfortably lazy nights in.

Ultimate Kitchens & Bathrooms
Our client had clear ideas for their newly acquired 1930’s Art Deco home. An internal brick wall was removed to open the kitchen and living room area, along with two small dividing walls in the bathroom. The brief was for modern, contemporary masculine colours. Inspired by the design details of previous projects we had completed; they took confidence in approaching Ultimate Kitchens and Bathrooms and were ecstatic with the result being just what they envisioned.
Black framed doors and windows were installed leading to the outdoor entertaining area, tying all the elements effectively together with the Art Deco style. The mix of integrated appliances and monochromatic tones work exceptionally well in this kitchen. The understated elegance in the joinery, provides the perfect framework to embellish the space with added details, like the special furniture and lighting items selected by the client, adding impact to the design.

This bathroom's shell was outfit by the brilliant Kelly Wearstler. She installed that penny tile and black subway, the mirror and the vanities. We added the floor treatment decor (toilet, furnishings, towel bars, art) working with the great bones her work provided.

Color inspiration for this dining space was taken from the client's own rug and repeated in the multi-colored stripe drapery panels, artwork and turquoise upholstered chairs. A handmade paper shade chandelier adds drama and ambiance.
