In this farmhouse inspired bathroom there are four different patterns in just this one shot. The key to it all working is color! Using the same colors in all four, makes this bath look cohesive and fun, without being too busy. The gold in the accent tile ties in with the gold in the wallpaper, and the white ties all four together. By keeping a neutral gray on the wall and vanity, the eye has time to rest making this bath a real stunner!

A fun and colorful bathroom with plenty of space. The blue stained vanity shows the variation in color as the wood grain pattern peeks through. Marble countertop with soft and subtle veining combined with textured glass sconces wrapped in metal is the right balance of soft and rustic.

New Moroccan Villa on the Santa Barbara Riviera, overlooking the Pacific ocean and the city. In this terra cotta and deep blue home, we used natural stone mosaics and glass mosaics, along with custom carved stone columns. Every room is colorful with deep, rich colors. In the master bath we used blue stone mosaics on the groin vaulted ceiling of the shower. All the lighting was designed and made in Marrakesh, as were many furniture pieces. The entry black and white columns are also imported from Morocco. We also designed the carved doors and had them made in Marrakesh. Cabinetry doors we designed were carved in Canada. The carved plaster molding were made especially for us, and all was shipped in a large container (just before covid-19 hit the shipping world!) Thank you to our wonderful craftsman and enthusiastic vendors! Project designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Santa Ynez, Malibu and Calabasas, across the tri-county area of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills and Calabasas. This master bathroom was designed to create a spa-like feel. We used a soft natural color palette in combination with a bright white used on the clawfoot tub, wainscotting, vanity, and countertop. Topped with oil-rubbed bronze fixtures and hardware.

This stunning master bathroom started with a creative reconfiguration of space, but it’s the wall of shimmering blue dimensional tile that really makes this a “statement” bathroom. The homeowners’, parents of two boys, wanted to add a master bedroom and bath onto the main floor of their classic mid-century home. Their objective was to be close to their kids’ rooms, but still have a quiet and private retreat. To obtain space for the master suite, the construction was designed to add onto the rear of their home. This was done by expanding the interior footprint into their existing outside corner covered patio. To create a sizeable suite, we also utilized the current interior footprint of their existing laundry room, adjacent to the patio. The design also required rebuilding the exterior walls of the kitchen nook which was adjacent to the back porch. Our clients rounded out the updated rear home design by installing all new windows along the back wall of their living and dining rooms. Once the structure was formed, our design team worked with the homeowners to fill in the space with luxurious elements to form their desired retreat with universal design in mind. The selections were intentional, mixing modern-day comfort and amenities with 1955 architecture. The shower was planned to be accessible and easy to use at the couple ages in place. Features include a curb-less, walk-in shower with a wide shower door. We also installed two shower fixtures, a handheld unit and showerhead. To brighten the room without sacrificing privacy, a clearstory window was installed high in the shower and the room is topped off with a skylight. For ultimate comfort, heated floors were installed below the silvery gray wood-plank floor tiles which run throughout the entire room and into the shower! Additional features include custom cabinetry in rich walnut with horizontal grain and white quartz countertops. In the shower, oversized white subway tiles surround a mermaid-like soft-blue tile niche, and at the vanity the mirrors are surrounded by boomerang-shaped ultra-glossy marine blue tiles. These create a dramatic focal point. Serene and spectacular.

A pathway to the master ensuite and WIC was restricted by too many doors, and an awkward layout of linen closets. A simple re-layout of the storage spaces allowed for more function within the master ensuite, and removal of the vestibule door created a more fluid access to the ensuite and WIC. Walking the line between traditional and transitional, the balance comes with the finish details and hardware. Square, sharp lines modernize an overall traditional palette, but special attention to craftsmanship expresses a nod to traditional design.
