Beach House on StiltsBeach Style Staircase, Sydney
Limed timber stair treads on the staircase, and matching limed original timber floorboards weave together consistently through the spaces as if they had always been there. A book filled bookshelf is nestled between the studs of a wall supporting the staircase, and supposed by a delicately detailed balustrade over to allow the light through.

What Houzz contributors are saying:
1. Location: Sydney, NSWWhat we love about it: The limed-timber treads on the staircase offset against the fine black balustrades, not to mention the book-filled bookshelf nestled between the studs of the wall to support the staircase.
MetalThe choice of metal, whether it be aluminium, wrought iron, steel, or other, can inject a staircase with contemporary or industrial appeal, and while metal may be a more expensive option than timber it is generally a more stable and lighter-looking choice too. This metal balustrade is traditional in style, but the contemporary and elegant look enhances the verticality of the stacked shelving underneath the stairs.
