This homeowner had extensive collections of both high end wines and bourbon. Wine and bourbon require completely different storage solutions, so naturally, two unique and completely separate rooms were created to showcase them both. The homeowners were fantastic in meeting with our team to collaborate on a bourbon room and wine cellar design that worked within their special spaces and budget. The House itself has a rustic, yet refined and modern farmhouse feel throughout. The modern, elegant, yet vintage style look of the small wine cellar, especially, fit seamlessly with the interior design. The Bourbon cellar is not cooled, but resides in a shaded interior section within the house as to maintain a constant temperature. Additionally, with close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, sunny Ladera Ranch, a community in Orange County, California never really sees average temperatures above 80 Degrees. The Bourbon Room showcases a custom wrought iron door, and upon entering features a modular style show cabinet with multiple levels. Custom wine cellar doors, and custom wrought iron doors truly add that special feeling and look to your walk in wine room. A door used for a wine room would be fitted with dual pane glass as to better maintain temperature and humidity within. A room such as this could also double as craft beer storage. Beer storage, requires bottles to stand straight up as to not rust the cap, as well as compress any remaining yeast residues at the bottom of the bottle instead of mixed throughout. Craft beer as a whole has become an incredibly burgeoning industry, especially in places like San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Francisco in California, and Portland in Oregon. The small wine cellar / wine closet / wine room is located right off the kitchen, allowing easy access for social gatherings or just to bring out that special wine with dinner. This small walk in wine cellar incorporates a custom wrought iron door as well, fitted with glass as discussed prior. The wine room has one solid wall of individual bottle storage, leading into the showcase wall with room for case storage and more individual bottle storage above the countertop and decanting area. This is VINIUM Classic with a Texas Twist. We provided our original wine racking of mahogany blocks and stainless steel rods for individual bottle storage; the client added custom millwork for diamond bin, wood case storage and horizontal magnum storage. Presented on a background of Texas limestone and capped off with tile above and below, this is a unique VINIUM installment.

After knocking down a dining room wall and opening up a storage closet in the garage, I designed an 80 sqft wine room. With stacked stone walls, a pebble floor, a crystal chandelier, custom sliding barn door, and enough storage to hold over 600 bottles of wine, this wine room has it all.

Custom Built Wine Cellar

As long as you don't have a furnace or boiler in the room, you can convert a basement utility room to a wine cellar. The wine bins are open in the back so you can reach through to access water valves. Spray paint walls and ceiling (including all exposed pipes) in a matt black and have simple diamond shaped wine bins built to fit. We used leftover terra-cotta tiles to warm up the concrete cellar floor, and an old piece of moisture resistant cypress as the tasting bar.

This gorgeous, contemporary wine cellar makes its home in a basement in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California. This Wine cellar was a very special collaborative project undertaken with the homeowner. It is always an incredible pleasure to assist in turning a wine cellar dream into a reality. The Homeowner's vision was to create this entire underground space from scratch. A stunning wooden grille covers the cooling unit face inside the contemporary wine cellar. The Modern feel and design of this wine room, heightened by a very clean, contemporary room feel itself, metal 'Contempo' wine racking, and straight lines throughout, is becoming more popular in chic homes throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, and San Diego Counties alike. Upon walking down the staircase into the modern wine cellar, a backlit horizontal display wall greets you with wines more suitable for drinking now. This space is not temperature and humidity controlled. Walk a few more feet down the staircase, however, and feast your eyes on this beautiful, contemporary showpiece wine cellar. The custom wine cellar design incorporates a mixture of wooden, metal, and glass features with backlit wine showcasing walls, roll out shelving, individual bottle storage, high reveal angled bottle display, wine case storage space, diamond bins, and even a cigar humidor. The sleek design of the metal wine racking enables the homeowner to match the contemporary house design with their newly installed wine cellar. The cork forward design section presents a library style wall where the wines can be easily categorized and organized. Additionally, the beautiful beige marble countertops and tabletop centered in the room lend a fantastic spots to decant wine, set out a cheese and charcuterie plate and invite some friends over for a great night together.
