What Houzz contributors are saying:
Act fast with spillsA flood from a fridge, washing machine or dishwasher can damage your timber floorboards very quickly. If you leave water or other liquids to sit on your floor the timber can expand, which can cause the floor to lift and damage walls, kitchen areas and anything and everything the floor is touching. If you have a spill or flood, mop it up with a towel (or several towels) fast. Then air out the floor by turning on the heating and opening the windows. This will encourage as much airflow around your floor as possible, which will help it dry out quickly.
