Exact Architectural Glazing
We worked with Concept Eight Architects to achieve the vision of the Glass Slot House. Glazing was a critical part of the vision for the large-scale renovation and extension. A full-width rear extension was added to the back of the property, creating a new, large open plan kitchen, living and dining space. It was vital that each of the architectural glazing elements featured created a consistent, modern aesthetic.
This photo displays the exterior view of the floating corner sliding doors which were an integral part of the extension design, operating as a seamless link from the indoor to outdoor entertaining areas.
De' Caves by Chitte Architects
Flow of straight concrete lines with a tint of wooden play, overlaid by the shadow patterns adds magnificence to the welcoming façade. Dominating grey, use of glass and wooden texture compliments each other, providing subtle design focus.
Drewett Works
With adjacent neighbors within a fairly dense section of Paradise Valley, Arizona, C.P. Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests.
While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment.
Grand Award winner for Best Interior Design of a Custom Home
The material palette began with a rich, tonal, large-format Quartzite stone cladding. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials.

Building Designers Association of Australia
Mike Besley’s Holland Street design has won the residential alterations/additions award category of the BDAA Sydney Regional Chapter Design Awards 2020. Besley is the director and building designer of ICR Design, a forward-thinking Building Design Practice based in Castle Hill, New South Wales.
Boasting a reimagined entry veranda, this design was deemed by judges to be a great version of an Australian coastal house - simple, elegant, tasteful. A lovely house well-laid out to separate the living and sleeping areas. The reworking of the existing front balcony and footprint is a creative re-imagining of the frontage. With good northern exposure masses of natural light, and PV on the roof, the home boasts many sustainable features. The designer was praised by this transformation of a standard red brick 70's home into a modern beach style dwelling.
Lars Remodeling & Design
The goal for this Point Loma home was to transform it from the adorable beach bungalow it already was by expanding its footprint and giving it distinctive Craftsman characteristics while achieving a comfortable, modern aesthetic inside that perfectly caters to the active young family who lives here. By extending and reconfiguring the front portion of the home, we were able to not only add significant square footage, but create much needed usable space for a home office and comfortable family living room that flows directly into a large, open plan kitchen and dining area. A custom built-in entertainment center accented with shiplap is the focal point for the living room and the light color of the walls are perfect with the natural light that floods the space, courtesy of strategically placed windows and skylights. The kitchen was redone to feel modern and accommodate the homeowners busy lifestyle and love of entertaining. Beautiful white kitchen cabinetry sets the stage for a large island that packs a pop of color in a gorgeous teal hue. A Sub-Zero classic side by side refrigerator and Jenn-Air cooktop, steam oven, and wall oven provide the power in this kitchen while a white subway tile backsplash in a sophisticated herringbone pattern, gold pulls and stunning pendant lighting add the perfect design details. Another great addition to this project is the use of space to create separate wine and coffee bars on either side of the doorway. A large wine refrigerator is offset by beautiful natural wood floating shelves to store wine glasses and house a healthy Bourbon collection. The coffee bar is the perfect first top in the morning with a coffee maker and floating shelves to store coffee and cups. Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring was selected for use throughout the home, offering the warm feel of hardwood, with the benefits of being waterproof and nearly indestructible - two key factors with young kids!
For the exterior of the home, it was important to capture classic Craftsman elements including the post and rock detail, wood siding, eves, and trimming around windows and doors. We think the porch is one of the cutest in San Diego and the custom wood door truly ties the look and feel of this beautiful home together.
