Kids are often our most difficult clients to please! Why, you ask? Because we are up against unbridled creativity. So, we are forced to regress. Think like a child - like anything is possible if you can dream it. Dressers that open to reveal secret passage ways, hidden play-lofts in ceilings, beds tucked into alcoves, chalkboard hallways and headboards that double as toy chests. These are a few of our favorite things. Don't we wish all our clients let us think like kids!

The Brief: Inject some fun for my little man…and gender neutral (no baby blue!).
The Solution: A reading corner & ever changing artwork wall. Cool wallpaper. Alternative storage in the form of lockers for both toys and clothes. Fun kitsch lighting to help at bedtime!

THEME Created for a baby girl, this
room is magical, feminine and very
pink. At its heart is the Carriage Crib,
surrounded by a large oak tree with
delightful animals, baby blocks, a cozy
window seat and an upholstered play
area on the floor.
FOCUS The eye-catching size and
detail of the Carriage Crib, with
a dainty canopy held in place by
woodland creatures immediately
catches a visitor’s attention, and is
enhanced by the piece’s fascinating
colors and textures. Wall murals,
fabrics, accent furniture and lighting
accent the beauty of the crib. A
handsome Dutch door with a minientrance
just for her ensures that this
princess feels at home as soon as she
steps in the room.
STORAGE The room has closet
organizers for everyday items, and
cubicle storage is beautifully hidden
behind the wall letter blocks.
GROWTH As the room’s occupant
grows from baby to toddler to
child and ‘tween, the room is easily
transformed with age-appropriate
toys, pictures, bedding and fabrics.
The crib portion of the carriage can
be removed and fitted with a larger
mattress, saving both time and money
in the future. Letter blocks are easily
updated by simply removing the letters
and replacing them with mirrors, colors
or other images.
SAFETY Standard precautions are
taken to secure power outlets and keep
exposed shelving out of reach. Thickly
padded upholstered squares featuring
colors and patterns that coordinate
with the fabrics on the window seat
and valance create a visually inviting,
comfortable and safe place to play.

This dining room turned playroom was designed for an energetic 2 year old. Our top priorities were maximizing a small space, providing adequate storage for toys and books and developing a design aesthetic that would be both inviting to a two year old and also flow beautifully from the adjacent living room and kitchen. We chose a warm, neutral wall color and accented it with pops of orangey red and vivid blues. Textures and patterns were incorporated to create playful visual interest. A sensory wall was added to offer stimulating play and beloved artwork was installed to add a touch of grown up sophisticated. An IKEA cabinet was painted a bold red and offers plenty of organized hidden storage. New knobs by Anthropologie were added to give the cabinet a custom feel. Large pillows in John Robshaw fabric offer a soft place to rest and the modern eiffel table and clear panton chairs become the epicenter for art, puzzles and snacks. This room is bursting with bright, bold color and a center for fun childhood experience. It was a joy to design for a very special Seattle family!
