Beautiful white porcelain pavers extend throughout the project for a simple, clean-looking, and easy-to-maintain design. We worked with the natural grade by adding stairs. These also separated the kids' space and kept the hot tub at a more accessible, natural-looking height. Since the homeowners planned to eventually add exterior doors out to the main outdoor living area, our architect designed the landscape with this in mind. The fire pit area is out of the way of the future doors yet still easily accessible. It also provides the perfect vantage point from the client's favorite swinging bench overlooking the fire pit to the property's immaculate lake view. The finished backyard space meets our homeowner's needs flawlessly. From enjoying the lake view by the fire to watching the kids' basketball game from the hot tub, there are several picture-perfect places for this family to make memories for years to come!

We turned this pedestrian Leaside backyard upside down! We added a stone patio complete with a firepit and lounge area which is covered by giant umbrella. A custom rough hewn beam pergola was painted black to contrast the custom stainless steel shoes and connector plates and placed over the new dining area and custom buffet. The buffet has a Corten steel decorative panel behind with white plexiglass and lighting for a dramatic dining experience. Horizontal fencing surrounds the backyard and the style carries through to both gates. Natural stone steppingstones and borders add contrast and frame the different sections of the yard. Playful informal plantings give the garden a sense of whimsy. The back porch was created for barbecuing with glass railings to not disturb the view from inside the home and contains a large storage space underneath.

Consistent with the homes architecture and lifestyle creates a space to handle all occasions. Early morning coffee on the patio or around the firepit, smores, drinks, relaxing, reading & maybe a little dancing. Cedar planks set on raw steel post create a cozy atmosphere. Sitting or laying down on cushions and pillows atop the smooth buff leuders limestone bench with your feet popped up on the custom gas firepit. Raw steel veneer, limestone cap and stainless steel fire fixtures complete the sleek contemporary feels. Concrete steps & path lights beam up and accentuates the focal setting. To prep for phase 2, ground cover pathways and areas are ready for the new outdoor movie projector, more privacy, picnic area, permanent seating, landscape and lighting to come. Phase II complete...welcome to outdoor entertainment. Movies on the lawn with the family & football season will never be same here. This backyard doubles as an entertainment destination. All these are actually quite hardy plants, so once established, your tropical garden is actually quite easy to maintain. Use this structure and apply it to your style. Research which plants you need to set your base for a garden and go from there.

Add some decor

If the plants don’t quite do it for you yet, or if you want to add some extra wow-factor, consider adding some extra features. Even if you can’t accommodate a swimming pool, hot tub or pond, you could look at smaller water features. Simple rocks can also have a great effect, while statues and gnomes will add some extra character. Don’t forget to add some furniture so you have a nice place to sit and enjoy your garden!
