With an existing pool and retaining walls, we took this space and made it more modern offering many various spaces for lounging, enjoying the fire, listening to the water feature and an upper synthetic turf area for playing games. It is complete with bluestone pavers, a modern water feature and reflecting pool, a raised ipe deck, synthetic turf, glass railings, a modern, gas fire bowl and a stunning cedar privacy wall!

This front yard's extreme slope was addressed by creating several planter boxes at varying heights to retain the slope and add interesting planting areas for the waterfall to flow through. Stone veneer to match the home's exterior was used for consistency throughout the design.

Живописный, уголок сада создан в природном стиле, naturalistic gardens. Работа была очень творческой. Это был экспромт, так как времени на разработку проекта уже не оставалось, все решения принимались на месте, на участке. Я очень люблю рисовать. В этот раз бумагой служила земля, красками были растения. Каждую композицию я продумывала на месте, создавала наброски от руки и после этого подбирала растения в питомнике. Все, от рабочего до хозяев дома, участвовали в этом творческом процессе. Мне было важно мнение каждого человека. Потому что прекрасное, гармоничное нравится всем. Для меня было очень важно, чтобы созданный мною сад был настолько природным, живописным и естественным, чтобы казалось, что этот сад нерукотворный! Природный ручей оформлен в природном, естественном стиле, с перетекающими водопадами. Каждое растение подбиралось по цвету, фактуре, форме. В разное время года сад выглядит каждый раз по разному, преобразуется в различные цветовые решения. @garden-graphics

Stepping stones in a minimal gravel paved area lead past two lounge chairs to the intimate dining area. The herringbone-patterned limestone patio dissipates into a lush planting bed filled with loose swaths of shade-loving perennials and seasonal bulbs. Beech hedging, and formal clipped evergreens, surround the space and provide privacy, structure and winter interest to the garden. On axis to the main interior living space of the home, the fountain, is the focal point of the garden. A limestone water wall featuring an engraved pattern of fallen Honey Locust leaves nods to the centrally located mature Honey Locust tree that anchors the garden. Water, flowing down the wall, falls a short distance into a pool with a submerged limestone panel. The light noise of the falling water helps soften the sounds of the bustling downtown neighbourhood, creating a tranquil back drop for living and entertaining.

The final design includes several "courtyard" and transitional spaces to accommodate the unique grading and provide several lounge spaces. Each of the home's many windows provides a different, picturesque view of the water feature focal point. The hot tub is purposefully close to the house for easy access, yet carefully positioned out of sight from the rest of the lounge areas so as to not draw attention away from the focal point. Quaint seating spaces, a fire pit lounge area, and a covered dining space are accented by ornamental grasses, hydrangeas, and night lighting. Our clients are thrilled with how the final project made their oddly shaped yard now perfectly fit their landscape needs and desires!

How to Create a Garden for Your Home

Decide which plants to use

The greenery you choose is critical to your look. For example, if you’re trying to create a tropical garden palm trees and bamboo are your go-to options. Other popular options are golden cane palm trees and fern for ground cover. From there you can add some colour with bright flowers like frangipani, hibiscus or bromeliads. All these are actually quite hardy plants, so once established, your tropical garden is actually quite easy to maintain. Use this structure and apply it to your style. Research which plants you need to set your base for a garden and go from there.

Add some decor

If the plants don’t quite do it for you yet, or if you want to add some extra wow-factor, consider adding some extra features. Even if you can’t accommodate a swimming pool, hot tub or pond, you could look at smaller water features. Simple rocks can also have a great effect, while statues and gnomes will add some extra character. Don’t forget to add some furniture so you have a nice place to sit and enjoy your garden!
