This room didn't need a complete redesign, as the clients had installed the wallpaper and decorated after they'd moved in, but they felt that their furniture wasn't working with the scheme and that the room needed a design direction. We decided to add a few key pieces and accessories to bring the look together, which would help to unite the taupe, grey and black tones of the room. I chose a larger dining table to further define the dining area, with smoke grey translucent chairs which are a modern take on the traditional medallion chair shape. I replaced the single ceiling light with two glamorous chandeliers spaced evenly over the table to improve the lighting and frame the dining area perfectly. Next to the dining area, I added a marble-topped side table with a table lamp and mirror above to make a feature of this space, and chose an oversized carved statement mirror to go above the sofa. I changed the artwork in the kitchen area to three monochrome prints which are the same size and in the same frames, to give this area a cohesive look. Finally, I added toning cushions and throws to the sofa, with an elegant cream and grey rug to add a touch of shimmer, and oxidised silver planters to finish the scheme.
