‘Oh What A Ceiling!’ ingeniously transformed a tired mid-century brick veneer house into a suburban oasis for a multigenerational family. Our clients, Gabby and Peter, came to us with a desire to reimagine their ageing home such that it could better cater to their modern lifestyles, accommodate those of their adult children and grandchildren, and provide a more intimate and meaningful connection with their garden. The renovation would reinvigorate their home and allow them to re-engage with their passions for cooking and sewing, and explore their skills in the garden and workshop.
Bradnam's Windows & Doors
Great as a stand-alone feature, or they can be the perfect companion to other types of windows as well as doors, aluminium fixed windows are an understandably popular product. They can be almost any shape, including square, rectangle, arch, circle, triangle, or a combination of these options.

The existing house was poorly planned after a many renovations. The entry to the house was through a verandah that had previously been enclosed and the cottage had multiple unconnected living spaces with pour natural light and connection to the beautiful established gardens. With some simple internal changes the renovation allowed removal of the enclosed verandah and have the entry realigned to the central part of the house.
Existing living areas where repurposed as sleeping spaces and a new living wing established to house a master bedroom and ensuite upstairs.
The new living wing gives you an immediate sense of balance and calm as soon as you walk into the double-height living area. The new wing area beautifully captures filtered light on the north and west, allowing views of the established garden on all sides to enter the interior spaces.
Studio Black Interiors
Built by Pettit & Sevitt in the 1970s, this architecturally designed split-level home needed a refresh.
Studio Black Interiors worked with builders, REP building, to transform the interior of this home with the aim of creating a space that was light filled and open plan with a seamless connection to the outdoors. The client’s love of rich navy was incorporated into all the joinery.
Fifty years on, it is joyous to view this home which has grown into its bushland suburb and become almost organic in referencing the surrounding landscape.

The street location of this property had already undergone substantial demolition and rebuilds, and our clients wanted to re-establish a sense of the original history to the area. The existing Edwardian home needed to be demolished to create a new home that accommodated a growing family ranging from their pre-teens until late 20’s.

The mixture of grey green cabinets with the distressed wood floors and ceilings, gives this farmhouse kitchen a feeling of warmth.
Cabinets: Brookhaven and the color is Green Stone
Benjamin Moore paint color: There's not an exact match for Green Stone, but Gettysburg Grey, HC 107 is close.
Sink: Krauss, model KHF200-30, stainless steel
Faucet: Kraus, modelKPF-1602
Hardware: Restoration hardware, Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron.
Windows: Bloomberg is the manufacturer
the hardware is from Restoration hardware--Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron.
Floors: European Oak that is wired brushed. The company is Provenza, Pompeii collection and the color is Amiata.
Distressed wood: The wood is cedar that's been treated to look distressed! My client is brilliant , so he did some googling (is that a word?) and came across several sites that had a recipe to do just that. He put a steel wool pad into a jar of vinegar and let it sit for a bit. In another jar, he mixed black tea with water. Brush the tea on first and let it dry. Then brush on the steel wool/vinegar (don't forget to strain the wool). Voila, the wood turns dark.

Plain & Posh
The homeowners wanted to open up their living and kitchen area to create a more open plan. We relocated doors and tore open a wall to make that happen. New cabinetry and floors where installed and the ceiling and fireplace where painted. This home now functions the way it should for this young family!
