Tournant le dos à la terrasse malgré la porte-fenêtre qui y menait, l’agencement de la cuisine de ce bel appartement marseillais ne convenait plus aux propriétaires. La porte-fenêtre a été déplacée de façon à se retrouver au centre de la façade. Une fenêtre simple l’a remplacée, ce qui a permis d’installer l’évier devant et de profiter ainsi de la vue sur la terrasse.. Dissimulés derrière un habillage en plaqué chêne, le frigo et les rangements ont été rassemblés sur le mur opposé. C’est le contraste entre le papier peint à motifs et la brillance des zelliges qui apporte couleurs et fantaisie à cette cuisine devenue bien plus fonctionnelle pour une grande famille !. This home was built in 1975. The original owner/builders sold the home to one of their children. Before moving in, the daughter had us remodel the home. When the home was built in 1975, it was chopped up into smaller rooms on the main floor: dining, living, kitchen. We were able to remove the walls due to the roof framing. So now they have a great room concept that fit their lifestyle much more. This home is very welcoming to visitors and kids just home from school. The idea is to enjoy the fabulous view of the Chugach Mountains. We kept the original wood windows, which are so much higher quality than most vinyl windows sold today. We changed out the glass to safety laminated glass with low-e argon filled insulated units. The safety laminated glass made the house so much more quiet. Since we were able to save the wood windows, we put so much less into the landfill. This project is just under 1,000 sf.

For starters, you want to find a balance between aesthetics and function. You may have heard of the ‘kitchen work triangle’, which refers to the space between your fridge, sink and stove. You want everything within easy reach when you’re working in the kitchen and look beautiful at the same time. It’s a good idea to take note of both when browsing our photo gallery.

2. Consider Your Space to Determine Your Kitchen Layout

Firstly, consider the space you have, and the limitations that come with it. Do you have a small kitchen and need to maximise your workspace and storage? Which appliances do you already own and what are their measurements? Are there windows you need to take into consideration when planning cabinets? How do kitchen, living and dining areas connect?
