The transition from a large family house to an inner city townhouse was made effortless by designing a home that functions efficiently for a modern adult family. Floating amongst a boulevard of plane trees, Plane Tree House provides a tranquil retreat from inner city life. Janne Faulkner’s influence over a number of years can be seen in the client’s collection of contemporary Australian art, which in turn has influenced our interior design – allowing a seamless flow from one living space to another, enabling our clients to entertain and live with ease. The entrance, with a monochromatic Noel McKenna lithograph and Oluce Atollo light, hint at what is to come. The living room joinery was designed to add a splash of intense colour to the space, as were the addition of mustard yellow Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia chairs in the winter garden, from which affords a magnificent view of the plane trees outside. The dining table allows ten people to sit comfortably, enjoying the client’s passion for great food, while the bedroom is both timeless and tranquil, for a truly sophisticated retreat.
