Spanish style barn designs and their cost is a something I think about often as a California home designer who helps clients create an overall theme and flow to their rural and semi-rural properties. This photo caught my eye and my imagination, as it is not a typical white stucco with red tile roof barn. The cost is much less than is typical which gave me the idea of including it in my exclusively Spanish style home and landscape design ideabooks on Houzz. I believe the black metal roof and corrugated steel siding, mixed with authentic reclaimed wood is an attractive alternative to the higher cost traditional materials for a Spanish barn design. The low gloss black Colorbond color of the components will tie in nicely with Spanish Mediterranean iron work, doors, windows and hardware. The mix of metal and wood enables this design to work with Modern Contemporary Spanish or more traditional Spanish Mediterranean style barn designs. Cost to build this barn is referenced at $150,000 - 200,000 AUD Australia $ which is only $106,000 - $142,000 US dollars. If only Gunn Building Projects (based in the beachside town of Mornington, Australia (outside Melbourne) could do projects in California there would be tons of demand for this design as a barn, shed, granny flat, accessory dwelling unit! They do state they utilized recycled Oregon USA timber... so maybe there is a chance:)
