What Houzz contributors are saying:
“Brick is now available in a wide variety of sizes, colours, textures ranging from glazed and semi-glazed to matt finishes, as well as distinctive shapes. This has allowed architects and homeowners to truly innovate and experiment,” says Brett Ward, general manager of Brickworks Building Products. The latest trends in brick reflect this willingness to experiment, as designers and architects explore the creative potential and push the aesthetic and functional boundaries of this age-old building material.
8. Curves and checkersPreston House by Brett Tuer Architect similarly uses a checkerboard pattern with projecting headers for the front of this inter-war Melbourne house. However, the bricks are not offset; instead stretchers and headers line up vertically. Gently curved walls contribute to its Art-Deco appearance.
