Amos Goldreich Architecture
We completed a luxury apartment in Primrose Hill. This is the second apartment within the same building to be designed by the practice, commissioned by a new client who viewed the initial scheme and immediately briefed the practice to conduct a similar high-end refurbishment.
The brief was to fully maximise the potential of the 60-square metre, two-bedroom flat, improving usable space, and optimising natural light.
We significantly reconfigured the apartment’s spatial lay-out – the relocated kitchen, now open-plan, is seamlessly integrated within the living area, while a window between the kitchen and the entrance hallway creates new visual connections and a more coherent sense of progression from one space to the next.
The previously rather constrained single bedroom has been enlarged, with additional windows introducing much needed natural light. The reconfigured space also includes a new bathroom.
The apartment is finely detailed, with bespoke joinery and ingenious storage solutions such as a walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom and a floating sideboard in the living room.
Elsewhere, potential space has been imaginatively deployed – a former wall cabinet now accommodates the guest WC.
The choice of colour palette and materials is deliberately light in tone, further enhancing the apartment’s spatial volumes, while colourful furniture and accessories provide focus and variation.

In the design stages many details were incorporated in this classic kitchen to give it dimension since the surround cabinets, counters and backsplash were white. Polished nickel plumbing, hardware and custom grilles on feature cabinets along with the island pendants add shine, while finer details such as inset doors, furniture kicks on non-working areas and lofty crown details add a layering effect in the millwork. Surround counters as well as 3" x 6" backsplash tile are Calacutta Gold stone, while island counter surface is walnut. Conveniences include a 60" Wolf range, a 36" Subzero refrigerator and freezer and two farmhouse sinks by Kallista. The kitchen also boasts two dishwashers (one in the island and one to the right of the sink cabinet under the window) and a coffee bar area with a built-in Miele. Photo by Pete Maric.

This project involved a complete back to brick refurbishment and 100 metre square enlargement of this Fulham terraced house. The property had not been modernised in 50 years and the practice managed the project from initial design, through planning, tender, construction and fit out. The kitchen was extended to the side and rear in order to create an enormous 45 square metre room where children could play, adults could cook and the whole family could be together. This allowed the formality of the front rooms to be preserved as ‘toy free’, with a grand entrance hall exemplified by the Georgian circular hall table, enclosed drawing room and limestone fireplaces to cater for the parents once little ones were asleep.
Four bedrooms and three bathrooms were carved into the upstairs to include a decadent master bedroom with walk through wardrobes and master en-suite. Element 7 flooring, 18th century antiques and Colefax & Fowler furnishings are combined elegantly with collected art pieces and personal family mementos.

Solid jatoba treads accent this closed riser cherry wood staircase. This traditional stair blends fine details with simple design. The natural finish accentuates the true colour of the solid wood. The stairs’ open, saw tooth style stringers show the beautiful craftsmanship of the treads.

The renovation of this bright apartment located in the Prati district of Rome represents a perfect blend between the customer needs and the design intentions: in fact, even though it is 80 square meters, it was designed by favoring a displacement of the spaces in favor of a large open-space, environment most lived by homeowners, and reducing to the maximum, but always in line with urban parameters, the sleeping area and the bathrooms. Contextual to a wide architectural requirement, there was a desire to separate the kitchen environment from the living room through a glazed system divided by a regular square mesh grille and with a very industrial aspect: it was made into galvanized iron profiles with micaceous finishing and artisanally assembled on site and completed with stratified glazing. The mood of the apartment prefers the total white combined with the warm tones of the oak parquet floor. On the theme of the grid also plays the espalier of the bedroom: in drawing the wall there are dense parallel wooden profiles that have also the function as shelves that can be placed at various heights. To exalt the pure formal minimalism, there are wall-wire wardrobes and a very linear and rigorous technical lighting.

Clay Squared to Infinity
Unglazed porcelain – There is no glazing or any other coating applied to the tile. Their color is the same on the face of the tile as it is on the back resulting in very durable tiles that do not show the effects of heavy traffic. The most common unglazed tiles are the red quarry tiles or the granite looking porcelain ceramic tiles used in heavy commercial areas. Historic matches to the original tiles made from 1890 - 1930's. Subway Ceramic floor tiles are made of the highest quality unglazed porcelain and carefully arranged on a fiber mesh as one square foot sheets. A complimentary black hex is also in stock in both sizes and available by the sheet for creating borders and accent designs.

Though not a ‘tiny house’, this little Canberra cottage is quite small, managing three bedrooms in under 94 square meters. Our task was to completely refurbish the home, adding height, connection to the outdoors and storage. The design process was meticulous; we went through the entire structure square meter by square meter to maximise utility, practicality and liveability. In a small home, it’s crucial that every square meter is functioning to its full potential.

The goal of this project was to upgrade the builder grade finishes and create an ergonomic space that had a contemporary feel. This bathroom transformed from a standard, builder grade bathroom to a contemporary urban oasis. This was one of my favorite projects, I know I say that about most of my projects but this one really took an amazing transformation. By removing the walls surrounding the shower and relocating the toilet it visually opened up the space. Creating a deeper shower allowed for the tub to be incorporated into the wet area. Adding a LED panel in the back of the shower gave the illusion of a depth and created a unique storage ledge. A custom vanity keeps a clean front with different storage options and linear limestone draws the eye towards the stacked stone accent wall.

The layout of this bathroom was opened up to get rid of the hallway effect, being only 7 foot wide, this bathroom needed all the width it could muster. Using light flooring in the form of natural lime stone 12x24 tiles with a linear pattern, it really draws the eye down the length of the room which is what we needed. Then, breaking up the space a little with the stone pebble flooring in the shower, this client enjoyed his time living in Japan and wanted to incorporate some of the elements that he appreciated while living there. The dark stacked stone feature wall behind the tub is the perfect backdrop for the LED panel, giving the illusion of a window and also creates a cool storage shelf for the tub. A narrow, but tasteful, oval freestanding tub fit effortlessly in the back of the shower. With a sloped floor, ensuring no standing water either in the shower floor or behind the tub, every thought went into engineering this Atlanta bathroom to last the test of time. With now adequate space in the shower, there was space for adjacent shower heads controlled by Kohler digital valves. A hand wand was added for use and convenience of cleaning as well. On the vanity are semi-vessel sinks which give the appearance of vessel sinks, but with the added benefit of a deeper, rounded basin to avoid splashing. Wall mounted faucets add sophistication as well as less cleaning maintenance over time. The custom vanity is streamlined with drawers, doors and a pull out for a can or hamper.
A wonderful project and equally wonderful client. I really enjoyed working with this client and the creative direction of this project.
