It has always been an honor to add creative splashes in the backgrounds of Steve's interiors. It was extra exciting to be a part of his team on his award-winning projects such as this one.
I'd love to invite you to join me in honoring of this wonderful man by coming by my profile, and checking out Interior Art's project files "ASID Award Contributions" and "Philharmonic Design Houses" for a peek at more of Steve's brilliance through the years. You'll also see a variety of other projects we worked on together throughout Interior Art's project files. He always took my breath away. He was a true artist; a true gentleman; a dear soul and a dear friend.
I always loved Steve Stein's impeccable taste in every step of the way. I've said many times over the years, Steve was a genius; a true artist at everything he did. Steve could place three items in a room and you'd pretty much fall to your knees in awe. I'm serious. I've seen him do it. He brought it to whatever he did. Complete and total awe.
In much humility I've done lots of little details in this space over years past. You'll see details in the background of the background that Steve attended to in his usual means of impeccability. In this care, the true use of "faux" was performed in such various ways it's just never seen. This is true "faux" at it's finest. Fireplace stones that were never stone.... awkward endcuts on wood that previously blared as unfinished lines and details to attend to. Faux wood finishes and cabinetry/furniture finishes to look like they've been there foreever and aged gracefully with the environment. I love my work!
Congratulations to Steve for his award-winning legacy in design. This one is particularly beautiful.
And finally, I wish to honor Steve Stein for being so open in the process of collaborating with his artisans. It was he who taught me, "A designer is only as good as his or her resources." Yet it was his trust and faith and allowed the grace of pure creativity to flow on his projects. He was so very trusting. We'll all miss you dearly, Steve.

The historic boutique hotel in the heart of Laguna has become part of the Riviera Magazine Design series to create the Casa Surf Project. One truly unique project. Interior Art was assigned 6 rooms, six different designers, 6 surf companies to help create ambience through the backdrop details for each space in this historical property in Laguna Beach.
In Billabong Men's Suite, we designed, developed and performed a hybrid mix of Venetian Plasters in the bathroom & on the headboard wall in the bedroom to create this finish we call "Concrete Plaster" as an organic, contemporary wall treatment strong enough in look & feel to hold up to the look and feel of the esteemed brand of Billabong Men's coupled with Grace Blu Design's ecclectic mix of organic, contemporary, retro feel to the design of this room. The lead designer of Billabong International walked through, approached our walls and declared, "That's the coolest wall finish I've seen". This was a very cool project! We loved being a part of Casa Surf!

Adrienne DeRosaAn upstairs bedroom currently serves as the administrative office for At Home Modern. Light furnishings and the vintage E.A. Evans painting give the room a decidedly feminine feel without going over the top. The tomato-red file cabinet, one of the Fishers' few "new" purchases, ties the room together with a punch of color and minimal form.

Combine 9 Design, LLCThis piece is one of our industrial horizontal filing cabinets that would look great in any industrial office or home office setting. It has been beautifully handcrafted of solid steel that has been finished in a vintage style patina. We can make this lateral filing cabinet in any size and configuration, but the one listed here has been constructed with four large pullout file drawers of equal size, with inner mesh doors, and in the dimensions of 72” W x 20” D x 30” high. It could be made with more drawers or less, depending on your needs. Locks could also be installed to secure your confidential documents or whatever belongings may be inside. The top is made with durable solid steel but for a more rustic industrial look, could be outfitted with any of the reclaimed woods you see on any of our other pieces. We even have a few on hand that have historical significance, but these add significantly to the price and have very limited availability. We can also make it in any of the steel finishes you see on any of our other items.
The center compartment has been built with two mesh doors, but could be made solid steel or reclaimed wood to complement the vintage look. Behind the doors is one removable shelf inside the cabinet. This area can be used to store more files or office supplies. The shelf could also be constructed to adjustable (for an additional price – please inquire). The impressive modern industrial style has been enhanced by the use of decorative rivets. We can always add more or less or none at all. The filing cabinet sits on legs adorned with industrial style brackets, but could be replaced with casters for a mobile file cabinet.
These also make great industrial dressers. When used for such, they can be made with dovetailed wooden drawer boxes.
