This local kitchen and dining room was due for a dramatic reconfiguration of space. The client wanted an informal family room and kitchen with a open modern interpretation of a country kitchen. A small bump out incorporating the existing porch added the square footage to the kitchen. Removing the wall between the kitchen and formal dining room made way for an expansive island with plenty of seating! A new professional range and hood mix with the softer country elements like the apron front sink, Dutch door, and open shelving.

Create a modern kitchen with a country twist through intertwining rustic oak paneling with stone walls. Use copper finishing touches to complete the look and give a homely feel.
Kraft Custom Construction
After a not-so-great experience with a previous contractor, this homeowner came to Kraft Custom Construction in search of a better outcome. Not only was she wanting a more functional kitchen to enjoy cooking in, she also sought out a team with a clear process and great communication.
Two elements of the original floorplan shaped the design of the new kitchen: a protruding pantry that blocked the flow from the front door into the main living space, and two large columns in the middle of the living room.
Using a refined French-Country design aesthetic, we completed structural modifications to reframe the pantry, and integrated a new custom buffet cabinet to tie in the old columns with new wood ceiling beams. Other design solutions include more usable countertop space, a recessed spice cabinet, numerous drawer organizers, and updated appliances and finishes all around.
This bright new kitchen is both comfortable yet elegant, and the perfect place to cook for the family or entertain a group of guests.

Sustainable Kitchens
This new kitchen sits effortlessly alongside the aged stonework of the barn. Respecting the old whilst adding a hint of modern luxury.
Sustainable Kitchens - A Traditional Country Kitchen. 17th Century Grade II listed barn conversion with oak worktops and cabinets painted in Farrow & Ball Tallow. The cabinets have traditional beading and mouldings. The 300 year old exposed bricks and farmhouse sink help maintain the traditional style. There is an oven tower and American style fridge and freezer combination with a larder on either side. The beams are original.

Turn back the clock, when you would wake up in the morning to the smell of baked bread, sizzling bacon, grilled sausages and the aroma of coffee filling the house.
These were the days when the kitchen was the main feature of the home. Everyone would sit around the table together and talk, no televisions, no handheld PS3′s, no laptops or any other cummunication gadget you can think of. The kitchen was the once place where families and friends would get together to enjoy the delicious food being served and talk about their day.
With our country kitchen design ideas we can provide you with all of the above (except the family of course) a wonderful, traditional country kitchen feel on the exterior but the interior will still have all the modern appliances you need. Country kitchen designs are very popular because they create a very warm, rustic, inviting atmoshpere within your home. By combining materials like wood, stone and granite worktops you can create the perfect country kitchen for your home.

Our brief was to create a calm, modern country kitchen that avoided cliches - and to intrinsically link to the garden. A weekend escape for a busy family who come down to escape the city, to enjoy their art collection, garden and cook together. The design springs from my neuroscience research and is based on appealing to our hard wired needs, our fundamental instincts - sociability, easy movement, art, comfort, hearth, smells, readiness for visitors, view of outdoors and a place to eat.
The key design innovation was the use of soft geometry, not so much in the planning but in the three dimensionality of the furniture which grows out of the floor in an organic way. The soft geometry is in the profile of the pieces, not in their footprint. The users can stroke the furniture, lie against it and feel its softness, all of which helps the visitors to kitchen linger and chat.
The fireplace is located in the middle between the cooking zone and the garden. There is plenty of room to draw up a chair and just sit around. The fold-out doors let the landscape into the space in a generous way, especially on summer days when the weather makes the indoors and outdoors come together. The sight lines from the main cooking and preparation island offer views of the garden throughout the seasons, as well as people coming into the room and those seating at the table - so it becomes a command position or what we call the sweet spot. This often results in there being a family competition to do the cooking.
The woods are Canadian Maple, Australian rosewood and Eucalyptus. All appliances are Gaggenau and Fisher and Paykel.

This salvaged kitchen sink was found awhile ago by the client who new she wanted to use it if ever she renovated. Integrated beautifully into the Danby marble countertop and backsplash with new fixtures it is a real joy to clean up.
This kitchen was formerly a dark paneled, cluttered, divided space with little natural light. By eliminating partitions and creating an open floorplan, as well as adding modern windows with traditional detailing, providing lovingly detailed built-ins for the clients extensive collection of beautiful dishes, and lightening up the color palette we were able to create a rather miraculous transformation.

Painted in our uniquely striking colour Stormy Sky, this modern country kitchen design brings a fabulous contemporary flair to a traditional shaker kitchen style. Natural light floods in from the feature windows, meaning our design team were able to introduce a bold and contrasting colour. The end result is an ideal room to create a stunning kitchen that’s perfect for family life.
The kitchen needed to make an impact on entrance, so the use of material, colour and the position of the island were key decisions for the design. Not to mention the integrated wine cooler, located conveniently for the guests seated at the table.
