I'm replacing an old two way blind (one roll for privacy and one for black out) with curtains. I'm over the blinds rods bashing together and on the wall with the slightest breeze at night and waking us up. The current "privacy" blind is black, which makes the room dark even during bright sunshine, however it does work well, our bedroom window is right next to our back yard and the BBQ! so we need the privacy. If we went with lighter coloured sheers would we still get the privacy or is black the way to go, or do we need to go with something less sheer?

I think you would need to go with something less shear because even black shear is still transparent.

Hi Kelly,

I couldn't source the name of the wall paper but it was purchased from Bristol Paints here in Australia. The local store we purchased it from was Bristol Essendon.

I do have a sample I can send you. If you email me your postal address I will send you a a piece.

My email address is:

Hi

Sorry for the delay in responding to your query,

The curatins were purchased from a retailer in Australia. The company is called Curatin Machine.
There website address is: www.curtainmachine.com.au
All their contact details are on the website.
If you mention our project they may remember it.

We dont have the name of the curtains on record sorry.
Regards,
Dominic Bagnato

Hi

The carpet was purchased here in Australia from a company called SUPERTUFT.
The actual carpet is wool twist & the Colour is called CHASE.
Even though it appears as a grey colour on the photo it is actually resembles a light olive colour.
If you go to the SUPERTUFT website, www.supertuft.com.au & click twist carpets & then click Escape twist series 1, you will see the CHASE colour as it actually is.
The colour went beautifully with our black/grey colour scheme & everyone loved it.
Hope this helps,

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Jenny Drew added this to Houzz Tour: Church Renovation a Golden Opportunity
The owners wanted the master bedroom to feel a bit like a plush hotel room. Sheer black curtains, charcoal wallpaper and an artichoke-like light add to this effect.

9. Dress the windowsWindow dressings do so much more than block light in a room. They dress a window and add an element of interest. They can be used to add drama to a room or can be understated and elegant. Either way, they will have a huge impact in a bedroom. Even if you have short windows, consider hanging curtains that drop all the way to the floor – they will look so much more opulent and make an ordinary window look so much more interesting. If privacy is an issue, sheer curtains are a great idea. They can remain drawn during the day and still allow light in. Use a blind behind sheer curtains to block light when needed, or layer a second pair of heavier curtains in front for a totally divine look.
