SOUTH COOGEE - HouseContemporary Bathroom, Sydney
This guest bathroom has been kept as simple as possible to feel like part of the furniture. The timber floors work with the recycled timber vanity and the decor has used earthy colours and textures to soften the feel.

Thick, white, luxurious towels always work well, and there are some beautiful textured options to choose from, too. Funky, brightly coloured towels are popular at the moment … so for a more dramatic effect, you could consider adding a splash of bold colour.
STEP 5: Finally, it’s all in the details…You can add drama in the details of a bathroom – think statement tap, dramatic feature tiles … and don’t forget the lighting. There is the practical lighting that is required for shaving and applying make-up, but there is also feature lighting you can incorporate. An under-mounted towel rail. If clean lines and surfaces are the order of the day, installing a towel rail (or two) under your vanity is a neat, space-saving option. A colourful, patterned or striped towel, as pictured, creates a pop of colour and warmth, and sits in a practical, easy-to-reach spot.
Simplicity influenced the guest bathroom design. A recycled wood vanity complements wood floors and organic textures. “This half bathroom is one of my favourites because we have managed to create a space that is functional but doesn’t feel like a typical guest powder room,” says Bettina. “It feels like another designed space that carries our style.”
