What Houzz contributors are saying:
The exterior blends into its environment, with timber cladding that will age into silver over time. The house has two wings that wrap around the central room. Overall, it’s a very stylish ‘green’ property that suits the family’s values and lifestyle.Find out more about this home
Try before you buyIf you’re still seriously considering the move, think about renting first, before buying a place. If you have a city property, you could rent it out while you rent in your desired location for a year. If you’re considering somewhere you have been on holiday, you may have only experienced the place while it was lively, the weather was good, and while you and your family were in holiday mode. By ‘living’ in a place for a whole year, through four seasons, you can really feel how living there would be – what the local community is like and how you can fit in.
Open-space planning on the north-east side of the house enabled the family to create a raised timber edible garden, so they could grow seasonal herbs and vegetables to use in the kitchen and share with friends. The upper level studio and its connecting stainless steel wire Juliet balcony provides outlooks over the garden and the national park beyond.
