Which window styles will help capture cooling breezes?Louvre windows are a popular choice for rooms that require ventilation, such as bathrooms and kitchens. Louvres can be a great alternative to exhaust fans, as they help stale and steamy air escape. They also minimise heat entry and escape, reducing the need for artificial cooling and heating. If you’re after superior natural ventilation without compromising privacy, awning windows are a good fit as they’re often placed higher in walls than other types of windows. You can also expect better light thanks to their placement. This makes them most useful in bathrooms and bedrooms.Double-hung windows also offer great ventilation as they allow maximum air flow while releasing warm air, so they’re best suited in rooms that need constant ventilation.

Old is new againA contemporary bathroom can stop short of embracing vintage character, but hint at it just the same. This Sydney beauty gives a subtle nod to the past with its wall panelling, tapware and new take on an old bath. The result? A thoroughly modern bathroom with plenty of personality.TELL USHow have you spun vintage vibes into your modern bathroom? A Roman blind can take any bathroom upmarket, especially if you paint the untiled portions of the walls in a coordinating colour.

Cancer is nothing if not sensitive. They are emotional and empathetic, and find it very easy to put themselves in other people’s shoes, as well as often taking on others’ emotions. This can be exhausting for Cancer, and they really need to practise self care so that they don’t become emotionally overwhelmed. A beautiful bathroom with a soaking tub might encourage Cancer to take some time out for themselves and relax.

In the main bathroom, the existing bathtub was peach coloured and the bathroom was country-style with yellow walls and a dark timber vanity. Once the fittings and fixtures were changed and the room was renovated, wainscoting was added as a final touch to give the new white walls detail and definition. Sash or single-hung sash windowA sash window has one moveable element and one fixed element, and usually, the lower portion of the window can slide up and down for ventilation. Sash windows hail from England in the 1600s and they typically have separate panes of glass set within a wooden framework.

What to consider when choosing interior panellingStock or custom-made: Whether you’re restoring wall or ceiling panelling or adding it new, you can choose from a wide range of manufactured stock components or have it custom-made according to your requirements.Size and scale: The size of your house will be a factor in how much panelling your period home can bear. Floor-to-ceiling panels in a small room may feel dark and heavy, for instance, while in a large room it could feel grand and stately instead.Using wood in the bathroom
