The Leyland St. Bamboo Flooring Project

Traditional, Vancouver

In the Fall of 2012, Frontier Flooring Services completed a brand new installation of bamboo flooring for Dr. Renee Lanctot, a sexologist and sexual health coach who has been featured on radio broadcasts with articles published across Canada. Renee’s original floor, which consisted 1.5″ inch top-nail oak strips that were installed in the late 1960′s/early 1970′s, had to be removed. Once we completely removed the original floor (along with the original patchwork sub-floor plywood sheets), we installed a sub-floor with tongue-and-groove plywood sheets that were glued and screwed, for that extra long-lasting durability and stability. Finally, we installed beautiful blonde, natural woven strand bamboo flooring that perfectly accents the African and modern-influenced decor. We also removed the kitchen and walkway’s 12″x12″ tile and installed beautiful 12″x”24 long length tile from our friends over at Fontile. In the kitchen, as you can see from the photos, the tiles give a natural, rustic look due to the uniqueness of each tile. For the walkway and the fireplace, we installed the same long length tile, except in a dark navy colour, to give a distinct contrast with the blonde bamboo flooring.
