Library with faux paneling
This masculine library brings Traditional design to a historical Newton interior.
The track arm sofa and leather chair seamlessly blend with the custom wool drapery panels and Faux Bois painted walls.

This masculine study/library contains linen roman shades for privacy. A 12' wide vintage American schoolhouse table from the 1920's is used as the desk in this room. It is paired with a black leather Eames chair. The room sits atop a light gray silk rug. Dark gray paneled walls. Clusters of riveted metal lamps are used in the place of desk lamps. A leather and nailheaded sofa is used and paired with ray upholstered coffee tables. The sofa is flanked by two swing arm sconces and rough iron and reclaimed wood libraries.

Our client wanted a classic and sophisticated room that would double as a study and the formal living room. To accomplish this we used a neutral color palette of soft creams in a variety of textures, and accented them with dark wood floors and moulding around the windows. The desk was the main focal point in the room and was backed with heavy shelving for books and storage. For the seating area we used soft patterned fabrics, classic furniture, and a wheat-toned rug to add a feminine touch to the room. The room was finished off with elegant draperies framing the beautiful windows. The final design was a timeless study and living room.

Reminiscent of turn-of-the-century estates on Boston’s North Shore, this new residence was constructed on the site of the former estates stone and shingle Manor House. The design offers comfortable interiors intimate in scale, while capturing the essence of the original grand exterior.
