Houzz Australia is excited to announce the first recipients of the new Houzz Scholarship Program.

Annalise Blatchford, from the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney, was named Houzz’s first recipient of the Women in Architecture scholarship Stephanie Pahnis, studying Architectural Design at RMIT University Melbourne, was named Houzz’s first recipient of the Architecture and Design Scholarship.

The scholarships award $2,000 to each of the recipients, to assist with their study in the fields of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture or construction management. Houzz, the world’s leading platform for home renovation and design established the scholarship program earlier this year in an effort to support the education of the next generation of professionals.

“We congratulate Annalise and Stephanie for their outstanding applications and hope to help them achieve their goals” said Jason Chuck, Managing Director at Houzz. “Supporting future architects and designers is one powerful way to contribute to the growth and health of our industry and in particular, empower female students who remain largely underrepresented in the industry.”

There were more than one hundred high quality applicants from all around Australia.

“I am incredibly humbled to have received this award and love that Houzz is supporting young women like myself in the architecture field” said Annalise. “In the future, I hope to use my passion for design to work on projects that have a real-world impact, whether that be through sustainable design, community based projects or humanitarian work.”

It is a huge honour to be recognised for my current achievements within the field of Architecture,” said Stephanie. “This generous contribution will help support my semester abroad in Stockholm next year, an opportunity that will greatly benefit both my education and growth as a designer.”
