I loved working with this company for 3 years and then it went bad.
We had our pool replastered 5 years and for 3 years it was great. Last year we started to notice some pitting which became worse this year. I called Jim (Sensitive Information Hidden) to discuss and he told me that the pool is out of warranty and they are not responsible.
We have had the pool for over 21 years and the original plaster lasted over 15 years. Authentic Plaster lasted less than 5 years.
Don't use Authentic Plaster if you expect the work to last for any length of time.

We hired Authentic Plaster & Tile to resurface our pool. The sales process and our sales person was stellar I cannot say enough good things about Ronn. We had a glitch in the process and it was handled in the most unprofessional manner. The glitch, I'll admit was ultimately my fault but my attempts to resolve the matter fell on deaf ears unfortunately. I left a total of six voice mails none of those messages have been returned to this day.

Comment from Authentic Plaster & Tile:
I believe this is a post from a client in McKinney. We were speaking with her husband regarding their glitch that occurred and it was resolved and we moved forward with completion of the project. As we were communicating with the husband and already had set up the parameters it was our understanding that he would communicate it with his wife. We have completed the project at this time.

Very easy to communicate with. Price was less than expected, especially considering the warranty life. All crew workers were respectful and courteous and they minimized the noise as much as possible. Just make sure to move anything out of the way that you don't want covered in layers of dust. Redoing the pool (plaster, tile, and coping) makes a huge dusty mess.

5 stars without hesitation. Quality of work, professionalism, and communication was top-notch, start to finish. They weren’t the “cheapest”, but I don’t chase cheap – I want quality and the best value for my money and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Of particular value to me was Jim’s advice and guidance on the front end of the process, which kept me from making a costly mistake. Other competitors were simply quoting what I asked for, instead of advising on potentially better alternatives.

Authentic plaster and tile did an excellent job on my pool. Hard workers and good at what they do. They did exactly what they said they would do and when they would do it. I highly recommend them!

Disappointed with communication, supervision & w/final product.
The only time we saw the company’s owner was during the initial visit/bid.
The start day was changed 3 times, & the start time (am/pm) was also unclear. This made it hard to manage our personal schedules & the response to this concern w/company’s owner (over the phone) was ‘this is not like a Dentist appointment’ ...
Of the 2 different staffs that showed, one for the prep & different one for the plaster, none could speak English, which made our questions/concerns impossible to discuss, such as;
they broke a step with their jackhammer & they broke the fountain pipe: both eventually were repaired,(not perfectly) and only after several phone calls and a variety of excuses by the owner.
The final plaster on the pool bottom has trough marks & footprints, various shading of blue to grey. Calls & photos of this were sent to owner for attention and were ignored with comments like this, “we’ve been doing this for 30 years so we certainly should know what we’re doing better than you”.
The owner never came back to supervise or inspect the work or offer any actions or correction of the pool bottom.
We paid our bill but are not pleased and can not recommend.

Thanks so much for the new plaster and tile job you on our pool and jacuzzi. The quality and workmanship were first rate. It looks like a new pool , I was also very impressed with your timeline commitment. You said you were going to start on this day and finish on that and it went perfect to plan. It's hard to find companies anymore that aren't running days or even weeks behind on finish dates. we are looking forward to enjoying to enjoying our pool even more.
Thanks Again.

Authentic Plaster and Tile just remodeled our pool and we were very pleased. We had some unique issues and requests that other pool companies wouldn't even consider but Charlie with Authentic was great and nothing seemed impossible. All other companies said we would have to remove the tree that hung out over our pool but Charlie said they had worked around bigger issues that that. The tile and brick guy Isreal was awesome, the plaster job was ok and both teams left the the yard nice and tidy when they left. The crew that laid the mastic down last we weren't very happy with since they left a huge mess. I would suggest using Authentic for the pool itself but calling a different company to come in a replace the mastic or put clean up of pool and decking in the contract. All in all we are very happy with our new pool remodel and would recommend Authentic to our family and friends.

A few months back I had my pool replastered by Authentic Plaster and Tile. Intially the pool looked wonderful. However, within a week or so I started seeing white splotches forming. I called their rep for advice. He said he would come out and take a look at it the next day. He didnt make it but rescheduled. He kept cancelling, and it was over 2 weeks, not till after I spoke to the owner, until the rep came out.
He determined that I had not kept the proper PH level. He did acid wash the spa, and improved it markedly. However, nothing was done to the pool. I have since learned how to and have been able to keep my water properly balanced, and have been able to maintain the condition without more white spots, however it does not look nearly as good as the original install. I am now going to acid wash the pool to try to get back to the original look.
It was my responsibility to maintain my water, and problems resulting from not doing so are not warranteed, and are my responsibility. However, Authentic failured to respond to my request for assistance to determine the cause of the initial problem. Had they responded in a timely manner, I could have made the corrections and halted the scaling early, before it got so bad. But after more than 2 weeks, it was too late. When a customer spends that kind of money for a service, it is not unreasonable to get some customer service after the sale. Had their rep done his job and actually provided customer service, I could have stopped the formation of calcium deposits, and not had to deal with trying to fix it for the last several months, and ultimately now having to do an acid wash!
So Authentic has a good product and does an excellent job installing their product, However, if you have problems after the sale, do not expect them to have any sense of urgency about answering your questions or addressing your problems.

We hired them to replaster our pool, redo the coping and tiles, and redo the mastic. We selected a caribbean blue plaster and decided to do flagstone coping to replace the old bullnose coping. When the work was finished, we were told that we should not run our polaris for 48 hours. I waited 72 hours, but when the polaris ran it ended up streaking the bottom of the pool, leaving permanent white lines all on the plaster surface. They also left a lot of mortar/grout debris, and some of the flagstones were not installed properly. When I called and spoke with the owner, he was extremely rude, insinuated that I had done something wrong to cause the white lines on the plaster surface, and complained that it would cost HIM money to come fix the stones. Reluctantly, he sent a worker to repair the stones the next week but did nothing else to address the plaster issue. After less than 2 years, tiles started popping off into the pool, and we had 10 large coping stones that were loose. Also, the mastic they put in started pulling away from the coping and peeling off. I once again called the owner who basically said too bad - you're out of warranty. We had to hire someone else and pay them to fix the work. Now, it's been 4 years since our replaster & coping job was done by Authentic, and we are STILL having problems. I was told by a very trusted and knowledgeable pool company that the work done by Authentic was extremely shoddy. First, the plaster they used was injected with dye, which never holds up due to pool chemicals. Further, they didn't properly clean the bond beam before installing the flagstone coping. Cementing stones onto a cement beam that is dusty/covered in debris will lead to problems in the future - hence the shifting of stones and the grout that just completely came loose and fell into the pool. Also, when they replastered the pool, they did not properly fix the return fittings, which subsequently lead to these areas leaking. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY TO DO WORK ON YOUR POOL - THE LACK OF QUALITY WORK AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS RIDICULOUS!!

They were courteous, efficient, experienced. Whole project was done to my satisfaction but left some mud and mortar on my pool, which my pool guy couldn't clean. I asked them as clean up was included so let's see if they make it right then I'll raise their rating to 5.
Update: They took care of it. I'm impressed with their professional conduct.
