Bill did a great job taking our ideas for a modest holiday house with good passive solar features and turning them into a house we love to spend time in. Bill was also easy to work with, listened well and was happy to take my ideas on board.

Bill Henderson has undertaken 3 commissions for us on two investment properties and a residence. He has been responsive and flexible in his approach and economical in both his direct cost and the mode of building solution that was considered which is critical in any investment property. Depending on the nature of the design brief, I would have no hesitation in recommending Bill for similar roles.

Bill took over when our original architect was unable to complete her initial designs through work pressures. He brought his intelligence and eco-expertise to work with us on substantially improving the design of the second half of our house. He listened to what we wanted and wisely advised and counselled us on matters of design and materials as well as helping us with finding appropriate methods and personnel to complete the build. His knowledge and experience are extensive, and his problem-solving creative. His wry humour helped carry us through the lengthy building process. We ended up with a house that exceeded our expectations and would have no hesitation on recommending him to anyone wanting an architect who can go the extra mile as well as doing a highly professional job.

We engaged Bill to design our Prairie style house having being really impressed with another he had done. The plan developed rapidly with few iterations perhaps because his CADCAM skills meant we could get an early indication of what our house would look like inside and out. While Bill was not engaged to oversee the construction, he remained interested in progress and actively helped with details which needed to be resolved during the building process. For example, his early spotting of a mistake in the height of framing built by a contractor meant which we could rectify the issue before it became enormously expensive to fix. Over the years we have appreciated the thermal efficiency of our house. It’s easy to heat in winter, requires no cooling in summer even though it sits in a zone renowned for its temperature extremes. A lot of work was put into the house to make use of passive solar and again this is largely due to Bills deep knowledge and skills in this area.
