About Us

Here at Cal Wild Landscapes we are passionate about creating drought tolerant and California native gardens that are innovative and contemporary in style. We envision gardens that balance place, identity and lifestyles. From visions for an expansive rural site or a detailed design for a compact home site, we strive to connect people to their space through listening, observing and discovering. We thoughtfully work with what is available to us on your site, trying to improve upon rather than manipulate. Every project is different but all connect us with the environment. …..what does “garden” mean to you? About the designer: My name is Sophie and I have spent my life falling in love with the CA landscape. I am fortunate to now share my passion with the world through designing your gardens and landscapes. I earned a degree in Landscape Architecture studying at UC’s on the coast and in the Central Valley.

Sophie the owner of Cal Wild Landscape Design is helping us design our dream backyard. She is also working with our pool contractor to make sure this entire process goes smoothly. Very easy to communicate with and has some wonderful and unique ideas to make our backyard a "magical" place to relax and entertain. I cannot wait to post my final review and pictures when our project is completed. The project is done and the pictures I am showing do not give it justice but Sophie is amazing and a true artist and professional!!!

Sophie and Cal Wild are fantastic! Cal Wild created a landscape design plan for my home and completed Phase 1 of the plan by re-imagining our backyard. Sophie is so easy to work with. She goes above and beyond in every way. My wife and I recommend Cal Wild without reservation.

Sophie was wonderful to work with. We spoke with a couple of designers but chose to work with Sophie due to her professionalism, creativity, and flexibility in helping us develop our garden concept. She came out to our house 3 different times to discuss and draw out our design. When we hired landscapers, she offered to come out again to tweak/modify the design based on our landscaping contract. The garden is nearly done and we feel much gratitude to Sophie for her great assistance! I’d hire her all over again!

From the start, we felt confidence in her expertise, her desire to listen to our ideas, and her ability to pull everything together into an exciting comprehensive design that exceeded our expectations. Sophie was recommended by another Landscape Designer who said my job was too big and a bit of a challenge. Sophie was easy to work with and very flexible, she listened to our ideas and helped to recommend the right plants for our area. She was always on time to our scheduled appointments. I found her pricing to be very reasonable and would recommend her to anyone needing a Landscape Designer.

Sophie at Cal Wild Landscape Design was super easy to work with. As we requested, she designed a fun space for our backyard. Her work included specifying plants for our yard that are both visually pleasing and friendly to our climate. She was prompt and professional, and her design fees were very reasonable. Now we are just waiting for the contractor to bring our plan to life.

We are absolutely thrilled with our updated landscaping and have received many compliments from our neighbors. Sophie helped us update our front yard by removing the excessive amount of grass and replacing it with beautiful grasses and plants that require less water. Sophie has continued to support us as the seasons have changed and has been very responsive to all questions and concerns. We would hire her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her services.

Sophie did an excellent job for us in drawing up a landscape design for a side yard project. She duplicated precisely what we needed. The landscape company liked the way she had placed the plants and the type of plants selected for our deer-proof garden.

I highly recommend Cal Wild Landscape Design!! Sophie was a joy to work with. She is incredibly detailed, thoughtful, and was able to find solutions for our large property while being conscious of our budget. She was prompt in delivering our completed design, and was able to work closely with our landscapers throughout the process. We are more than happy with our design and recommend her to family and friends often!

Sophie has worked with us for so long and so patiently to get our entire yard and pool area designed. Her advice and knowledge has been invaluable. Our home is now up for sale and the comments on the yard design has been all positive! I would recommend Sophie to anyone and everyone for landscape design!

We wanted to quickly replace a very large sloped area of grass and weeds at the front of our house with drought tolerant mostly California native plants. We had a great meeting with Sophie at our home and she got back to us about a week later with an excellent design plan. The textures, colors and groupings of plants she chose were just perfect. She was quick to get back to me with answers to my questions, helped us purchase some of our plants (they can be hard to find in January) and suggested some great local and specialty nurseries.

She responded to my ideas and concerns and brought lots of great suggestions for me to consider in developing our landscape plan. She was everything I thought a landscape designer should be.
