I can't recommend Jeff and his team enough. They did a terrific job for us on what was our first major remodel project. In fact, he's given me the confidence to think about new projects in the future. On your first remodel project, you just don't know what's important in selecting a general contractor. Beyond things like skills and business reliability it turns out two factors became more important than I'd anticipated -- and Altmann & Associates excelled at both. First was operational talent. Seems like a small thing, but when you consider the cash flow and project management skill needed to keep a major home remodel moving it's incredibly important. I went with Jeff and his team originally because I liked the detail he gave me in the estimate, and the process he shared for how he got there. That operational approach is just part of how he does business and became a terrific way to transparently share the project process and anticipate surprises. It was a tremendous relief to what is inherently a stressful process. The second was taste. I'd not realized how important it would be to select a builder who shares your taste. You THINK your plans specify everything, but the truth is that there are a thousand little decisions your builder makes for you every day that require more than specs.
