We appointed Big Bean Construction for our flat. It was a complete refurbishment and some alterations to the floor plan. Jeff and his team were very reliable and always available to discuss the nature of works and what to be done. Also, we had a strict timeline for the completion of works and Jeff has put all efforts to meet the deadline on time. Jeff was all the time available and if something was needed urgently we immediately had it the next day as he is very reactive. We were very happy to have appointed Big Bean Construction and we highly recommend Jeff and we thank him for the works completed and for delivering on time.

Jeff and his company did an amazing job on a wholesale renovation of our flat, which involved an effectively complete demolition of the existing interior and refurbishment (including electrics). The work was carried out efficiently and considerately, with minimal disruption to our neighbours. The end result was a property finished to a very high standard, which benefitted considerably from Jeff's creative input. Highly recommended.

Big Bean recently completed a 10 month whole house renovation for us in Hackney. This was our second time working with Big Bean, who previously undertook a loft renovation at our former home. Such was my trust in Jeff following our last project, that I actually had him come to look at the house before we put in an offer so we could discuss the work that would be required. The project was a whole house renovation including two extensions (dormer and side-return) as well as a total refit including re-plumbing, re-wiring and a lot of structural work to re-configure the house. This was all completed during a universally challenging year (2021) which saw global price-rises due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as shortages of building materials. Notwithstanding these challenging circumstances (outside of anyone's control), our project was completed on-time, an amazing feat given its scale. The building team were deeply professional, as commented on by all of our neighbors. The work was completed to an extremely high-standard and we couldn't be happier with the end-result. Big Bean's greatest strength though is its manager/owner Jeff. During the 10 months, I spoke to Jeff multiple times per day. He is always available and works unbelievably hard. He also visited the site almost every day to make sure everything was proceeding according to plan and on time. Particularly appreciated in a project like this is his "can-do" problem-solving attitude when problems inevitably arise (including us changing our minds after things had already been done!). Jeff's organizational and management skills are second to none and we trusted him implicitly. He shouldered an enormous amount of the day-to-day burden that would typically fall on the client and took on the management of more and more aspects of the build as we progressed. Our site manager George also deserves special mention for the day-to-day running of the site and his eye for detail making sure everything was finished to an extremely high standard. I could not recommend Jeff and his team more highly and wouldn't hesitate to work with him again in the future (in fact I don't think we would even consider another project unless Jeff was doing it!).

Very happy with Jeff and the team at Big Bean construction. They did a side extension and double storey rear extension plus general refurb throughout the rest of the property. Jeff was honest and transparent with me throughout, telling me what things would cost upfront and why. We didn't have any cost overruns except for a few items that were not his fault - discovering we needed a new roof because of some issues the structural engineer missed for example. However in that situation Jeff gave me options and was very clear about what the costs were breaking it down clearly for me to review. We slipped by a couple weeks over the course of the project but all things considered - covid, labour stuck abroad, supply shortages, etc - that was a pretty good result in a 6 month project. Jeff and his team were very good at coming back after the end of the practical completion to fix items on the snagging list. The team were courteous and professional, being careful to clean up after themselves when in my home. Renovating a house is always a terrifying proposition to a newbie and as this was my first time I was understandably nervous but Jeff made the process a hell of a lot less terrifying than it could have been (and that friends and colleagues have relayed from their experiences with contractors!) so I would highly recommend Big Bean. They definitely weren't the cheapest option out there, but their prices were pretty competitive and you do pay for quality at the end of the day.

Jeff and his team were fantastic, some of the nicest, hard-working and considerate builders I have ever worked with. I have no hesitation in recommending Big Bean... and in fact, I have already referred them to a friend who is looking for a reliable, professional and trustworthy construction company for her ground floor extension.

I have recently completed a residential project with Jeff and his team. They have been a pleasure to work with throughout. Jeff and his team were great to work with from start to finish and we are delighted with the end result. I’ve had 4 or 5 flat refurbs before and all have left me a little disappointed - not this one! The finish is high end, which is what we were after, with care given to every detail. We had the same team on site throughout the build - George and Rusi - who took pride in their work and care for our home. We had other trades coming in and out throughout the build so it was good to know they were on hand to oversee everything. The project scope kept changing as well, which Jeff took all in his stride and never made me feel bad for adding something in or taking another element out. I’d highly recommend their services.

Flat in Angel that required extensive replastering and painting following some damage that occurred. Big Bean could not have been better. They were able to come in quicker than expected and completed the work with great care and attention. Big Bean came highly recommended to me by a colleague who had a fantastic experience with them when renovating her flat. The project was to convert the loft in my Grade I listed almshouse in London. I met with Jeff who provided me with an extremely detailed and realistic estimate for the project. Jeff also worked with me to fully understand my vision for the project and had some excellent ideas for how best to use the space. The work started on time as agreed and the builders were extremely professional and diligent. It was also commented upon by the neighbors how tidy and generally considerate they were. The project was expertly managed by Jeff who was responsive and a pleasure to deal with. He worked with the architects, structural engineer and staircase designer to ensure a seamless and stress-free process from start to finish. I was particularly impressed by the fact that he visited the house every day to oversee the work, reporting back with updates and photographs. The project was completed to budget and there were absolutely no surprises or (not previously agreed) extras on the invoices. The team returned straightaway to go over the (extremely minimal) snagging points. The end-result is brilliant and to an extremely high standard. Jeff and his team did works for us including complete refurb of our kitchen/living/dining space, our inner courtyard including installation of a new wall, creation of a gym and various other works to bedrooms, bathrooms and the large format tiling of our main atrium and living spaces. Jeff and team’s work was excellent quality and they delivered exactly what we wanted, rather than doing what was easier - this was particularly true of our tiling where I had specified particularly large format tiles. The team were polite, respectful of our property and did their best to leave the site tidy each evening which was particularly important as we were living on-site. They were also very helpful to me personally, which I needed given I was 6 month pregnant at the start of works! Jeff’s communication was great - he was always available and set out clear timeframes to us, let us know if any issues had arisen and offered good advice on how to get around any problems so that the works could progress well. We will definitely be using him and team for the next phase of our works later this year.

this is the first large project I have undertaken (complete refurb (including new kitchen, bathrooms) of a 2 bed flat and converting a large cupboard to an en-suite bathroom) so was somewhat nervous and also sceptical of builders - you hear all the horror stories. Jeff immediately put me at ease. He prepared a clear and detailed estimate upfront and made me aware of potential issues which might arise. He kept me informed throughout the project of progress (orally and weekly written reports) and I experienced no horrible surprises. I cannot recommend Jeff and his team enough. I popped by the property on a fairly regular basis (sometimes unannounced) and I was very impressed with how tidy they managed to work. All the guys I met on site were friendly and polite. Jeff was very quick at responding to any questions I had - I felt in a very safe and trustworthy pair of hands throughout. Thank you!

We hired Jeff to renovate a large proportion of the Victorian house we moved into. It was in a terrible state and needed a huge amount doing to it. Jeff and his team were brilliant throughout the whole process. They were respectful, always on time and when changes needed to be made they did so without any issue at all. Renovating a house is quite a daunting prospect and it costs a significant amount of money and we are so glad that we hired Big Bean Construction Ltd to do the job. What an amazing experience! Jeff completely understood my requirements, was honest enough to tell me that some of what I asked for was not feasible, and ended up offering me what he thought was best for me. Thanks to his very efficient, respectful and professional team, I have a very secured garden fence which my 3 dogs hopefully will not escape from! We got in touch with Jeff via Houzz and asked for him to come and quote on a bank holiday weekend, with work to start a month later - a tall order. From that point on Jeff has been very impressive and very communicative. The project has gone without a hitch, thanks to his meticulous planning and excellent team. Nothing has been too big or small for them to deal with - including us changing our minds from time to time... No overrunning on timetable and constant communication about any increases in price. As this is a block of flats, we were nervous about having builders in for such a big project, but Jeff and team worked excellently with the porters and our neighbours. We would highly recommend Jeff and team.

Wary of building industry I decided to self-manage my renovation project and at one point needed to involve a professional. I contacted various companies and once I met with Jeff it became apparent I didn't have to look any further. He promptly answered my enquiry, knew exactly what needed doing to achieve what I wanted, was professional, respected the schedule and really took the stress out of the whole thing by arranging and coordinating different professionals. He was always true to his word and explained things. The work was completed to a professional standard and the flat was left neat and tidy. Jeff is such an adept, knowledgable and decent guy who selflessly provided me with a valuable advise on other aspects of my project he is not going to be involved with. This industry should have more people like Jeff.

We hired Jeff at Big Bean Construction based on Houzz reviews, so we had concerns. These concerns were allayed pretty quickly once Jeff and his builders started. Firstly, we received a quote and Jeff basically stuck to it even though we asked him to do more tiling around the windows (originally we had thought to just paint around the windows, then we changed our mind) which means the job took longer than expecting. In terms of craftmanship, Jeff and his men did a fantastic job replacing a bathroom and a cloakroom. I would highlight the great attention to detail (especially when it comes to tiling) and the fact that Jeff's main builder always cleaned after himself and left the "building site" in clean conditions every night. The finish is very good and everything works very well (shower, toilet etc). We will get Jeff in again to do more work in the future and would not hesitate to recommend him.

The main reason we chose Big Bean was because of their transparency in all aspects of the design process, schedule and cost. Jeff proved to be very honest and worked hard to find savings for us without compromising on what we wanted. His lovely team brought everything in on time and were very pleasant and respectful of our space, which was important considering we were living there during a disruptive build. Jeff did a great job bringing our house up to star quality. We had a new roof with insulation and we had brick cleaning over the whole house and re pointing and our house then became the smartest in the street. The neighbours have all done the same now so it no longer stands out quite so much as it did but it is still an excellent result. We also had the front drive re done with new brick walls and new gravel and at the back of the house we had paving and a new terrace. Overall we were very pleased with the results and the cost was reasonable. Jeff was easy to work with and could be relied upon to get things done in the timescale and for the price agreed. Jeff at BigBean did a great job from start to finish from giving an accurate quote to dealing with structural surveyors, building control, architect and neighbours!. More importantly we didnt have any delay (which is very rare in London and with most builders). Jeff was always available to meet on site and discuss/deal with issues. Great job overall. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that the builder we get to do up our precious home is a cowboy and doesn't care as much as we do. Jeff is not that guy. He is transparent, open and honest (I couldn't believe it either) and will listen patiently and respond kindly as you worry about the transformation your home is undergoing.

From the design stage to completion they were not only innovative, but incredibly attentive, and prompt. I was particularly impressed with the aftercare, which wasn't contractural. Reccomended.

The project was relatively complex and included working with an architect on a full planning proposal which had to be submitted to Westminster. The project stayed on budget and schedule too!
