Specializing in green and sustainable interiors New Leaf Interiors is an Atlanta design firm specializing in working with residential and commercial clients to bring them environmentally sustainable interiors. Green design is important for all of us as we reassess our impact on the planet and how our choices and consumer behavior effects the world we live in and leave behind. Principal Karen Kaplan has 30 years experience in interior design, home furnishings and visual merchandising as well as being an accomplished artist and muralist. Karen also specializes in space planning , clutter clearing and storage issues and is well versed in the disciplines of Feng Shui and Vastu.

Karen was instrumental in helping me make simple changes that added a lot of pizzaz to our rental home in the marina located south of Cancun, Mexico. She added new furnishings, accent lamps, art pieces, and redid both bedrooms. Thanks Karen! Couldn't have done it without you!

Karen was so helpful with every aspect of color selections in our home. Her design sensibility and willingness to work within our budget guidelines and constraints was very helpful. She has a wealth of ideas and sources, which was most helpful. Great knowledge when it comes to the importance of lighting, fixture selection, esthetics, etc.

New Leaf Interior assisted with decorating our living room, dining room, and family room to include installing new, decorative window treatments; purchasing a few pieces of new furniture and re-upholstering existing furniture; and helping to accessorize with existing objects (books, photos, etc.) we already had. New Leaf Interiors was respectful of our budget, provide several recommendations/options, and took our personal taste into consideration.

New Leaf Interiors is an amazing interior design firm! They did a complete interior overhaul of our offices in Evanston, in partnership with Designs for Dignity. Karen Kaplan the owner of New Leaf interiors is very knowledgeable and experienced. She has a wonderful "eye" for bringing colors, furniture and art work together in a cohesive and fluid manner that can really transform a space! Karen Kaplan of New Leaf Interiors has been our interior designer and project leader for two major remodels of our home. The first remodel was to update two bathrooms and refresh all other rooms. Being thrilled with her service on that remodel, we engaged her to redesign our kitchen. My wife and I attest to Karen's many years of experience and her professionalism in her ability to meet deadlines and stay in budget. She's a pleasure to work with since she gets to know her clients and blends their needs with her wonderful taste to come up with really exciting designs. Also, Karen is very "green" using recycled materials where possible. We love our newly remodeled home and visitors all are impressed with it too!

We have used New Leaf Interiors for several large projects in our home including our basement, three bathrooms and decorating consulting for the dining room, family room and two bedrooms. New Leaf Interiors is always prompt in responding, creative in suggesting uses of space and spot-on with respect to color combinations. In one instance, she brought in an architect and together they completely redesigned our space giving us a much bigger basement area than we thought possible. I especially like that New Leaf Interiors bring an eco-friendly sensibility to many of the products that were recommended. New Leaf Interiors is very budget conscious and would consistently look for ways to keep costs down. I would strongly recommend using New Leaf Interiors for any decorating project, small or large.

Karen, of New Leaf Interiors, helped me pick out window treatments for my home. She was very respectful of the amount of money we could spend and gave several suggestions for each window with her personal opinion of what would work well with the "environment" of the home. She guided us to make good decisions for each room and was extremely helpful finding someone to come in and install the treatments. Everything was done in a timely fashion and we were totally pleased with the results. We recommend her highly.

Karen from New Leaf Interiors was great! We moved into a new home and Karen helped us figure out how to best use our space, as well as helping us pick paint colors and find furnishings. She has a good sense of style and is knowledgeable about available products. She took time to understand the needs of our family and made recommendations taking into account our taste, budget and lifestyle. We would definitely recommend New Leaf Interiors!

Karen, of New Leaf Interiors, walked into my home and immediately targeted a problem and potential improvement. Following her suggestion, she brought a contractor with whom she's worked extensively. She really got the ball rolling. She gave us both a custom and less-expensive prefab solution to work with. Her work has improved the look of my home by 500%. When she came back to help us hang and place art work, she was able to zero in on just the right look to maintain the integrity of her initial work, and the rooms, in general. Karen is direct, down to earth, and extremely knowledgeable. I admire her work in many ways. Just two: She has the ability to "think outside the box." She is amenable to and capable of working within a budget.

New Leaf Interiors did a great job helping me re-design my house. We have lived here for over 25 years and the house needed a face lift ..on a budget!! Karen, was so knowledgeable, patient and always responded quickly to my phone calls and emails. Sometimes she shopped for me herself and sometimes we went together. Her paint suggestions were terrific and when I myself would find an interesting rug, lamp, etc. she would happily look at the photo in an email and give her advice. She has a multitude of ideas and understands design and function from a variety of styles and eras. I highly recommend Karen!

I hired Karen for a very specific and challenging job. My sister, who is physically disabled, was moving from a large apartment into a much smaller one. Not only did this require reorganization of her possessions; it also required designing, purchasing, constructing, and installing a variety of specialty shelves, tables, drawers, and other storage items. To make it even more challenging, we wanted the finished product to be not just attractive, but also physically accessible to somebody with limited mobility, as well as allowing room for the manipulation of a large, motorized wheelchair. To say that Karen accomplished all of this would be an understatement. She exceeded our wildest expectations--and did it all with a winning combination of grace, humor, and patience. I can't recommend her highly enough!

We have used Karen many times over the years. Recently we remodeled our master bedroom and bath. What I especially like is that Karen really listens, so that you end up with a room that feels like you and reflects your taste, rather than just a pretty room with no soul. She has very good color sense. She will do as much or as little as you wish. You can meet, make a plan and then shop yourself or she will shop for you or she will go shopping with you. Whether you are furnishing with high end designer furniture or Ikea, Karen will help you. In this case, she helped me pick out wall colors, tile, fabric and linens. Her upholsterer did an excellent job recovering some chairs and her seamstress made the drapes. She worked well with my contractor. She even found our chandelier in a resale shop!
