Kurrajong Steel Homes Pty Ltd

I engaged Kurrajong Steel Homes to build our house (designed by us) in 2016 after they built a house down the road from us. We were impressed with finished product of this house (built in 2011) and the feedback provided by the owners after the moved in. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the finished product we received or the level of service during the build or after the build. As we got towards the end of the process, the supervisor told me to give him a list of defects - I asked him to finish the job and rectify anything he thought was defective before I did this. He said "no" so I gave him a list of defects, including unfinished works and items within the contract scope that had not been completed. He told me I was being to pedantic and that "my kid's are only going to ruin the house anyway". Before signing practical completion, I sent the list of defects including photos to the building company and rang the owner of the company, John, and asked if he was happy with the level of finishes in the house, keeping in mind that the build price was $650,000. He indicated that he was happy with the finished product - an indication of the level of quality they provide. Following this, the company refused to answer emails, phone calls or text messages so I brought the QBCC in after 11 months (April 2017) - that got them motivated. They committed to fixing everything and an "amicable agreement" was reached between the builder and us and no notice issued by QBCC. Unfortunately, they did not fulfill their side of the agreement and a second complaint was lodged with the QBCC in December 2017. QBCC are re-inspecting this weekend but have informed me that Kurrajong Steel Homes no longer have a valid builder's licence. I would not recommend Kurrajong Steel Homes with the current (2016) management and supervisory team - very unprofessional. Have provided just a few of the defects,

Great builders. Currently building my 4th home with them!! Great workmanship and quality. Not the cheapest but definitely great value for money. Nothing was ever a problem, and if there was a problem it's quickly rectified. Very honest and reliable. Make a normally stressful process, very stress free!! To be building my 4th home with them, they must be doing something right!! Would highly recommend them to anyone.

Working as a building designer, I have been involved with many builders over the years and have found the team at Kurrajong Steel Homes to be both friendly and professional. As a custom home builder, they were very flexible and innovative which made working together very easy. Overall, I was highly impressed by the standard of work produced by their trades and the overall finish of their homes.
