About Us

Michael A. Gilkey, Inc. is a landscape architecture studio in Sarasota, Florida, established in 1981. Through a passion for pure design and personal relationships with architects, contractors and homeowners, we create expressions of outdoor space that are direct translations of our clients’ visions. We work with our experienced landscape contracting team, our professional maintenance technicians, and the community’s finest tradesmen to ensure implementation and continuity of each unique concept, through every phase of the design process.

Our work is custom on every project and we look to team members like Michael to successfully enhance and integrate our projects to a very high degree of design and creative expertise. Michael's firm delivers excellent and creative landscape design without exception. I cannot say enough accolades about their firm, our relationship with their firm and my heightened anticipation of working on our next project with them.

As an architecture firm, we have worked with Michael A Gilkey, Inc. on numerous high end custom homes in Sarasota, Bradenton, and Venice, Florida. Their team is very knowledgeable, wonderfully artistic, and they care greatly about the homeowner and the end result. Their landscape designs are responsive to the local environment and ultimately become an extension of the architecture. Through their understanding of a project's overall design concept and the smaller, custom details, they are able to enhance the living areas of not just the exterior spaces but the interior as well.

I have worked with Michael since 2008. He is an amazingly talented designer and has a great group around him to help execute his visions. He has done grey landscapes for me for $10,000 and $100,000 and everywhere in between.

Commented: Plant surrounding patio table.Hi! The plant immediately surrounding the table and chairs is Variegated Pittosporum, and flanking that is Rosemary--extremely durable and attractive for its fragrance and structure.
