I spoke to Josh at Melton about a project that I was looking to start right away. Even though we quickly established that they were too booked out to take on my project in the time frame that I was looking for, Josh spent a good amount of time with me sharing his advice on how to approach the project to get the most value and walking through recommendations for other firms. I truly appreciated the professionalism and transparency, and if I had more lead time I'd love to work with them in the future. Btw, these guys are BUSY -- they were booking several months out when I spoke to them -- so suggest getting on their calendar sooner than later if you'd like to work with them.

We hired Melton Design Build to remodel our 40 year old kitchen in the mountains of north Boulder. We knew it was a very complex job, and from the start it was clear that Melton was the only contractor we could find that was capable of giving us what we wanted. The job involved rerouting of all the upstairs and kitchen plumbing, rerouting most of the ducting for the main hot air heating system, reengineering a main load carrying beam, and a complete interior redesign. Melton was able to perform most of the design and construction work with their internal team who we got to know well. Their subcontractors (plumbers, painters, electricians) were top notch, professional, and courteous. All of the work was completed on schedule and on budget. Melton's design/build strategy and deep bench of experienced professionals made the job go smoothly with very low stress. Most importantly, we love our new kitchen.

After interviewing and discussing our objectives for a kitchen remodel with multiple local contractors, despite the fact they were the most expensive, we chose to work with Melton. We are delighted with the outcome. Everyone from Melton we worked with was professional, passionate and genuinely conveyed a desire to do things the right way,n ot only with regard to the practical aspects of construction and finish work, but in the way they handled the 'expected unexpected' things that always seem to arise during construction projects. What are some words and phrases to describe our experience with Melton...? Here are a few that come to mind: A+. 5-star. Top shelf. OMG, I cannot believe this is my home. We started working with Melton in the summer of 2017 to do a major remodel of the main floor (living room, entryway, kitchen, dining room) of our tired and dated early 70's Boulder home. From the initial contact, thru the many planning meetings that we had at Melton's office, to the construction itself, everything has wildly exceeded our expectations. We really didn't know what we wanted going into the project, and so didn't want to hire some ordinary general contractor who would show up with a toolbox and ask us what we wanted done. We wanted a company that could handle it all -- from interior design, to picking out everything from cabinets to toilet paper holders, to taking care of all of the demolition and construction, so we chose Melton Design Build. We really felt that we needed the 'Design' part that they brought to the table. Melton has their own in-house staff of planners and interior designers. Their office is a wonderland of cabinets, floors, countertops, etc. to look at for ideas and to choose from. The only choices we had to make that didn't involve their showroom were for appliances, and for that they sent us to yet another wonderland that I didn't even know existed (Specialty Appliances in Louisville). Through our many planning meetings they opened our eyes to many possibilities that we would not have even known existed if we had tried to plan this out ourselves. Thank you to Steven P, Christine D, and Jessica W for the many planning sessions and ideas about what was possible. Your work shines in the finished product. When it came time to start the demolition and construction, I was really impressed with not only the quality, but also the consistency of the crew. Melton has their own staff of carpenters and it was wonderful to have mostly the same Melton crew there at our house every day. Well before construction started there was a very detailed schedule that laid out start and end dates for every little aspect of the project. That schedule called for the project to be done on 4/24/18 -- the project finished on 4/26/18, two days "late" due to an unexpected situation that revealed itself only after demolition started. A 90 day project that ripped apart and put back together our entire main floor that essentially finished exactly when it said it would -- I call that amazing. We and our pets continued to live in the house (basement) throughout the whole project, and I was impressed with the respect that the crew afforded us in that regard. No pets escaped, the house was cleaned up (as much as reasonably possible) at the end of each work day, the crew arrived and departed at reasonable and consistent hours, etc. Thank you to Jim G (lead carpenter), Andy D, Peter K, and others on the Melton production crew who helped and who I'm sorry I didn't get to meet enough times to remember your names. We could not be happier, not only with the finished result, but with our choice of Melton Design Build to get us to that result. A few years down the road, when we are ready to turn our attention to other areas of our home that need a facelift, it will be a no-brainer on who we are going to work with.

Melton did a fabulous job in both the design and the execution of a $66,000 bathroom/hallway remodel. Some body was working on the project every day and they finished one week ahead of schedule. If you have a chance, make sure Ben Fernandez is your project manager. Ben has a strong background; is easy to work with; and stays right on top of the day to day details!

We just completed a major master bath remodel with Melton that included moving some fixtures and installation of a large steam shower. Every milestone in the project plan was met on time and delivered at a high level of quality! After completing a major kitchen flip / remodel with another contractor, we were looking for a team that could provide better design assistance, attention to detail and quality of workmanship. Melton delivered on all of these and then some. This was our first project working with Melton, and I can honestly say that I don't believe it will be our last! We had some hail damage and since we were getting a new roof decided it was a good time to replace the nasty looking awning with something more modern. Calling around to various architects and builders in Boulder was a frustrating experience. Most were too busy to even talk about a smaller project. It sounds like a small thing, but the fact that Melton returned my call quickly and was interested in the job was a big plus. I’m happy to say that professionalism carried through for the entire project. I was continually impressed by how refined their entire process was. From the first meeting there was always a clear agenda and an explanation of the next steps. Working with Adrian and Matt during the design process was awesome. They took our half formed ideas an inspiration and brought them to life. They were happy to keep making revisions until we found something we were both happy with. Along the way we expanded the scope of the project quite a bit, and accordingly the budget was at the upper end of the range we’d agreed to. So we started working with them to scale the work back to fit a more modest budget. The only criticism I’d offer for their process is that the budget they provide is rather opaque. They provide a fixed bid, with some optional additions. The additions have clear prices but the core price does not. Without more granular line item costs you can’t really weigh different possible parts of the core design against each other (e.g. “if we drop the concrete bench, can we afford to make the roof alterations and a garage door?”). In the end it wasn’t a big problem though. They were able to work with us to make those tradeoffs and settle on a set plans that we were happy with that met our budget. We had really enjoyed our meetings with our architect, Matt, so it was sad to see him go but we were exited to move on to our project manager, Scott, and get the building started. Scott did a great job of setting expectations for the timeline and impact on our family. Once the work started their crew was awesome. Everyone, Jim, Mike, Dan and Diego, were sweating the details and making sure the work was right and everything was clean when they left. The highlight of my morning was getting the run down from the head carpenter, Jim, on what they were working on that day. I’m a software developer so I was fascinated seeing how they built something tangible. Jim was always happy to explain things and talk through the small design decisions that come up when you’re translating plans into wood and cement. They were true craftsmen. We’re really pleased with how our house turned out and I’d highly recommend Melton. They’re definitely not the cheapest way to go but their designers’ taste, management’s planning, and builders’ attention to detail is well worth it.

We worked with Melton on an *almost* full home remodel, including kitchen, master bath, 3 baths, exercise room, flooring. The entire project was well-managed. The project manager, lead carpenter and the entire Melton crew were extremely talented, courteous and respectful to neighbors. Top quality work! The 4 month project was kept on track and delivered on time.

Melton performed a complete kitchen remodel for us, which subsequently won a HBA of Denver Kitchen Remodel Award. We are very pleased with the outcome of the project and are enjoying our new living space. Melon involved us in every step to make sure our needs were met. Our designer, project coordinator, project manager and architect were very helpful in guiding us through the decision-making process. We were assigned an expert lead carpenter, whose incredibly skill brought the project to its beautiful completion. His contribution to the project and professionalism are the most memorable aspects of 3-month building process.

I hired Melton to do a complete makeover of my kitchen, master bath, powder room and the floor and walls of the entire first floor. The project took 4 months and my experience from the first day of demolition to the final day when they removed their sign was nothing short of perfect. Their entire team was both courteous and professional every step of the way. Their commitment to cleanliness and respect of privacy was impressive. They cleaned up their workspace every day before leaving and at least once a week their cleaning team came to my house to wipe down furniture and swiffer the floors; no joke. They finished on time and actually under budget with a few savings they brought to my attention. You may be able to find a contractor i nBoulder to do what you want a little cheaper but the Melton design and build team were invaluable in both planning the entire project to completing to perfection. They even provided interior design services to help me choose and locate the finishing furniture, rugs and other finishing touches. You get what you pay for. Melton gets a 10 out of 10. From start to finish, working with Melton Design Build has been an extremely gratifying, fun experience. Our remodel goal was to create a large kitchen, dining and living space for our family to enjoy. The end result is more wonderful than we had envisioned - we love our new space! We were walked through the project with a high degree of professionalism combined with personal warmth. We worked with Steven, our project coordinator, and Claire, our designer, to get our arms around the scope of the project, our style and a budget. Claire presented us with several excellent options for floor layouts. One idea was so inventive and perfect that we could not imagine not executing on it. And she hit on our style quickly, making material selections remarkably easy. Our team approach to brainstorming the details resulted in some amazing touches that make everything extra-special. Steven was the glue that held everything together with his many years of experience being a liaison between the planning, budget and working crew. The crew, headed up by our project manager, Mike N, had skills that resulted in very high-quality finishes. Each person who came to our home was personable and considerate. Everyone listened well and followed through with our requests. We were especially impressed with Mike W, our head carpenter, and Diego, man of all trades, who made sure every request or question we had was attended to, even if it was not in their realm. Of high importance, the budget and time frame for the project were laid out realistically, and both of those goals were met exactly. Melton fully remodeled our 50 year-old ranch home. In an industry full of horror stories, we were so relieved to have a very positive experience. For us, the full service design build process worked extremely well. We appreciated having professionals to take us through all the steps and manage all the details of a very complex project. The production period was on time and on budget, and our home is more beautiful than we even imagined it would be. Melton's design staff was very creative and helpful - the elements they helped us choose came together for a stunning outcome. Our lead carpenter was not only a skilled craftsman but also managed all of the people involved in the project really well. Melton treated us, our home and our neighbors with respect and professionalism throughout. I would definitely recommend Melton for their processes and their product. I cannot say enough good things about the work Melton did for me. This is a company that is very committed to making expectations clear and meeting those expectations. They truly bring a service culture to their work. They finished on time and on budget. They were very responsive and proactive communicators. Great quality with very few punch list items and they did not fight me on any of it. Their staff and subs were very professional. The job sight was always clean. Change orders were handled clearly. Their design and sales team walked made it so easy. They completely redesigned my kitchen, dining area, living space, master bath, closets and created a custom urban bike rack and cabinet system that is totally unique. More so, I was able to choose most all of my finishes without running around to lots of showrooms. Aside from from the carpet and appliances, we worked up the entire project right in their showroom including flooring, tiles, counters, cabinets, hardware, fixtures/faucets, lighting, etc. If you want to avoid all the headaches your friends have ever told you about their contractors and construction projects, work with Melton.

Very complete and competent estimation and design process. Seems a little on the expensive side. Will consider other bids before deciding.

Because of an excellent recommendation from a previous client I choose Melton Design Build for the small addition to my 1950's ranch house. They took an existing bedroom space, turned it into a bath with walk-in shower and a wonderful walk-in closet, added new bedroom space with great West and South exposure. From the design team, to the project manager, to the head carpenter I received professional, involved, caring treatment. My ideas were taken and expanded to create an addition that fits beautifully with the house and provides me with amenities that will enable me to "age in place". In short, I like everything about my new space; it turned out to be more and better than I could have ever thought of on my own. That's why I would recommend Melton Design Build without hesitation.

Melton DB completed a to-the-studs remodel on my 1958 brink ranch home in Boulder in 2015. I can't say enough good things about the entire process. The design team was superb, responsive, and had a wealth of new and creative ideas. The build group was on time, on budget, and completed the project with a true sense of craftsmanship that reached down to all subcontractors. There was real pride in the process, and the results.

We used Melton Design Build, for a large "face lift" project that ended up going further then we anticipated at the beginning. Throughout the project Melton was on time, respectful and within budget. We had an extremely positive experience with Melton Design. Ours was a small project but we still received the same service one would expect for a major home remodel. The word "professional" stands out when recalling our remodel project. From the design stage through completion....the steps were seamless. For instance we were given a binder with all the information needed regarding the project. We were told exactly what time timeline would be and the work was completed accordingly.
