Michael's carpenters had built us a new deck last year, and we had them come back to screen it in. Michael came out in advance to talk with us about what we wanted and answered my many questions. The team of carpenters completed the project in three days, and did a great job! And the work area was left spotless. The job was completed for the estimate given.

Absolutely horrible experience with Tropical Painting. We hired them to do a $13,000 bathroom remodel and the communication, timing, and quality was so awful we had to fire them halfway through the project, and will have to pay a licensed plumber $3300 to replace $1350 worth of plumbing that we had already paid them for. After demo-ing our house in the first week of construction, they left our demo-ed bathroom for nearly 5 weeks with very little work done. They said the delays were due to inspections, yet they didn't put in for an inspection until two and a half weeks after they had started, and a week and a half after the bathroom had been demolished. It took another two weeks for the inspection to be scheduled, during which time there was hardly any work done, Michael ignored my emails, calls and text messages, and we were stuck in a house with no laundry or usable master bath and bedroom during a pandemic. The inspection finally comes, and it fails. I asked the assistant for a report from the inspection, and she dodged this request, saying that the city doesn't do reports for inspections and it is a "verbal thing", but assured me that their work had passed. It was old plumbing that had failed. I called the city and had a report within the hour. Three of the four failures were work that they had done. Michael said he would replace the shoddy work they did and charge me $625 for a new shower drain that was installed before they had started. I had a licensed and highly regarded plumber out the next day, who found even more violations in their work, and said the only reason the city might not have seen them was because the inspection was virtual because of COVID. He suggested that we fix the additional violations. He also quoted be $625 for the new shower drain, but said to redo the other work right would cost about $2200. This is the most egregious of all of the issues, but I encountered many more with Michael, including not being able to give us a schedule when I asked for one on multiple occasions, starting work without a permit which is in violation of the city, and incorrect installations because no one ever walked through our house before the work to see what we wanted done. Since our failed inspection, I have worked with the city to submit my own building permit acting as the contractor, and have hired a plumber, drywall specialist, and a tile specialist. I will have this bathroom done in less than two weeks. We are going to end up spending several thousands more dollars than we budgeted, but at this point I just want my house back.

I had tropical painting come out to redo my garage. Michael and his team were professional and did a great job. I absolutely love that they were on time. They gave a specific time they would arrive and they came at that time, no half day windows which I liked very much. I will definitely be using their services in the future for other projects.

I had a great experience working with owner Michael and his crew. They were professional, prompt, efficient and the bathroom looks great. There was a initial problem with some tile work in the tub, but Michael immediately resolved the problem, and they redid the work to my satisfaction. Michael was always very responsive and made sure to keep me in the loop during the renovation. I will hire him again for other projects!!

Mike and his team were so amazing. When I was just initially calling for quotes he was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He was able to answer any question I had with great detail and even examples. He knew what I wanted. Their pricing was so competitive for the work I wanted done. they were not just great at the cabinet painting, but also the removal of a huge mirror, the dry wall, the painting, the installation of cabinets, and more. The workers were so freakin' neat and clean in my house I would not have known they were there had it not been for the amazing cabinets I get to look at every day. Based on the quality of work for each aspect of the project, it is clear Mike and his team are seasoned professionals. To say I was pleased would be a serious understatement. I definitely plan to use them again for other projects and would recommend them to anyone who asks.

Again, the Tropical Painting and Construction team has wrought a miracle on a room in our house! When a large chunk of the dining room ceiling of our 1927 home collapsed on the Saturday of Hurricane Florence, they were out the next day to replace the ceiling, repair time-aged walls and make the room come alive with fresh paint. I’ve never met a person who works harder or with more care and generosity than Rafael. He worked five days straight, sun-up to sun-down. Abo worked straight through lunch, we had delightful conversations. Ask him about his pasta recipes! Mike, the owner, is wonderful to work with—patient and knowledgeable—and the work of Tropical is always thoroughly done and reasonably priced. This is the third time I’ve hired Tropical, and I’ll continue to do so.

We hired Tropical Painting to replace the old linoleum in our master bath with ceramic tile. They were very prompt with their estimate (unlike all the others) and their price seemed fair, so since we had recently used them to remove some old wallpaper and had good results, we rolled the dice. Orlando showed up on time, worked to remove the old flooring and then began laying out the pattern we had asked for (diagonal). After a few tweaks, he was off and 2 days later we had a beautiful floor. My wife was thrilled with his work and we will ask for him by name in another month when we redo the upstairs bath. Good price, exceptionally hard working - great result.

We have worked with Tropical Painting & General Construction Company since 2014. They have smoothed our ceilings, refinished our stairs, painted every room in our house, installed recessed lighting and crown molding, fully remodeled two bathrooms, re-sanded our deck, and even helped out with the occasional plumbing and electrical emergency. I cannot say enough good things about Tropical Painting & GCC. We continue to call Michael and his team for all our home improvement needs because of their high quality work and ease of working with them. Their prices are also very competitive for this area.

Previously, the team gutted a full bath, built a tile shower, installed the vanity & miscellaneous items, replaced the basement carpet with tiles & painted the entire floor. They are professional, prompt, reliable, careful & considerate of leaving my home in a clean state. I highly recommend them for any home remodeling project or general contractor work.
