Michele Alfano Design LLC ASID, ASSOC AIA is a boutique design studio located in Hudson Valley, NY. With formal architecture training and experience, Michele Alfano brings a distinctive bold and modern architectural approach to interiors, furniture and product design. Alfano refers to her design style as “a tailored emotional intelligence,”- Livable Modern spaces that are both eye-catching, highly functional and inspire well-being. It’s her disciplined yet edgy detailing which brings spaces to life by beckoning its users to touch, to emote and to challenge them to think. Alfano has received plenty of attention from brands, publications and media for her work. She was selected for the DXV Design Panel 2017 to re-imagine the modern movement; the bathroom design was featured in such publications as the New York Times T Style, Luxe, Interior Design, Elle Decor, Vanity Fair, Metropolitan Home, Metropolis, and Architectural Digest. Michele received accolades from the 2017 BLANCO by Design contest and been an invited speaker on design panels at KBIS and Wanted Design. She has received honors in the industry, including KBDN Top Innovators 2018 in the Kitchen and Bath industry, the 21st Interiors Award for Best Public Space, and has appeared on BlogTalkRadio. In her design blog MOD Design Guru, Alfano’s modern voice explores new innovations in the industry and investigates how lifestyles evolve alongside design trends. MOD Design has been recognized by the JDR Industry Awards and the Modenus Top 100 Interior Design Blogs and Influencers, and Alfano has been invited to travel and write for brands such as Tile of Spain, Miele, Mr. Steam, Brizo, Zephyr, DXV, Du Verre, the NKBA, Modenus, and Axor. Design services 5 stars, client service 0 stars. My initial experience with this designer was positive, and I am extremely happy with the design she created and the final look of the project. But unfortunately our working relationship devolved by the end of the project. There were multiple issues with miscommunication, poor attitude with my GC, disregard for budgets, disagreements in which she told me I wasn't evaluating things correctly, and a final dispute over delivery of services.

We hired Michele from Michele Alfano design to help us create an open floor plan design for our outdated colonial. From the moment we met Michele we knew we had found th right person for our project. She listened and asked all the right questions to help guide her during the design process and come back with drawings that conceptualized everything we had imaged. She was available throughout the entire process, checking in with the contractors to ensure that the project was on pace and any issues were address immediately to save us both time and money. She was the comsumate professional. We never thought that we were the kind of people who would hire a designer. Up to this project were were a diy family, but honestly it was the best decision we ever made. Michele helped guide us through the selection of materials, colors, fabrics, everything. When you start a major remodel you cannot even imagine all the decisions that need to be made and Michele was there with honest feedback for us at every turn. I cannot recommend her enough. Her business motto is tailored, emotional, intelligence and she is proves it with every project. She is an amazing designer who helped redesign our house into our home.

Unfortunately due to bad weather we had a leak in my bedroom. I immediately called Michelle Berwanger and asked her to help redo this room. When Michelle looked around the room she talked to me about colors and how I wanted my room to feel. I told her that I wanted my bedroom calm. We then began looking at paint samples together to find a color that was exciting yet calm. I went out of my comfort zone and went with a dark gray. I was hesitant to go so dark as my room is small but in the end the color made my room bigger just like Michelle said. Everyone who sees my room complements the color. Next was the fun part bedspread and lamps. Michelle told me which colors to bring into the room and I began the hunt. Every time I saw a comforter I snapped a picture of it and sent it to her for approval. She was wonderful, she looked at each picture and gave me her honest opinion. We finally found a beautiful comforter with the dark gray white and yellow. Now that the scheme of colors had been created Michelle explained how to add things around the room to bring warmth. After the lamps were purchased the last item was a painting. Michelle and I shopped and found an abstract painting that reminded me of a sunset. Again this gave me that warm calm feeling that I wanted in my room. Even though my bedroom is completed I still check in with Michelle and listen to her expert opinion when doing other things in my home.

Michele Alfano designed the renovation of my 125 year old brownstone in Hoboken. She modernized the space, while giving nod to the historic touches of the home we wanted to maintain. Her ideas were unique and executed beautifully. The kitchens and bathrooms especially were a main focus. She was easy to work with, incorporating her ideas with my needs. My home is gorgeous and it's because of her.

When my husband and I decided to redo our master bathroom we did not know where to start. The entire process seemed very overwhelming. We called Michele at MODMadeNY and sat down with her to discuss the feel we wanted to experience in our new space. Michele nailed it with her design which incorporated contemporary lines with a rustic flair. This was exactly what we wanted. She is very knowledgeable, extremely talented and thinks outside the box. Michele has an impeccable attention to detail which was reflected throughout the project. Once construction began, Michele was extremely hands on making sure the project was progressing as planned. Any problems that arose during construction that affected the design were handled with efficiency and Michele was always quick to come up with an alternate solution. Having Michele design this space for us was the best thing we could have done. She designed an absolutely gorgeous space which we will love for years to come.

We hired Michele to design a built in bed in our daughter's room. With her creative and innovative thinking, Michele was able to construct a bed that was not only esthetically pleasing but also functional with lots of storage space. She was involved in every step of the process, including visiting our home, speaking with the millworker, and helping with choosing fabrics and paint colors to make it all come together. She was very professional and completed the project in a timely fashion. We truly enjoyed working with her and would highly recommend her for future projects.
