We researched extensively looking for French Sleigh beds and found Island Furniture. The prices were reasonable, and the product looked good on the website, but as we were spending a considerable amount of money, we took the time to drive to Liverpool and visit the showroom for that added reassurance. Duly assured, we went ahead with our purchase at the end of January. We paid IN FULL at the time of order, so with nearly £1000 of our money for two side tables and a sleigh bed, we obviously thought things would be ok, and were advised that deliver would be around mid April as because we had ordered white, it would take a little longer. Despite being excited and desperate for our furniture to arrive, we waited until the expected date for a phone call regarding the delivery. It did not come. We then called to chase. Calls back were promised, but did not happen, and we had to keep calling back to get a date. It did get to the point where we were genuinely worried that this was a scam. That worry didn't dissipate until the furniture was delivered - finaly at the beginning of June. They did ask if there was somewhere secure where they could leave the furniture if we were not in which i was totally floored by given the size and value of the product. After finally receiving and putting the items in place, we noticed that the drawers on only one of the bed side tables was a different colour to the surround. we called Island Furniture who told us not to worry and to email them with pictures. We did this immediately. And so far, sadly predictably, we have had zero response. The only good thing about dealing with this company were the two delivery/assembly guys who were polite and professional in contrast to their colleagues. with regards to the bedside tables, the drawers are not terribly professionally made, which for the money, is disappointing even if the final 'look' is ok.
I did give this two stars originally, but that came up as 'just OK', and to be honest my experience wasn't ok. And i would have serious reservations about recommending them, despite being happy with the bed (if not the bedside tables), and could not hand on heart put anyone else through this.
UPDATE AUGUST: Just as all hope was given up, out of the blue, a phone call was received and a replacement side table delivered the next day. It still isn't perfect, but will do. i would perhaps recommend a bed purchase, but find the side tables a little 'rough' in their construction. i imagine the drawer units would be the same, so will look elsewhere for a suitable set. Because of the replacement (despite no communication!) i have upgraded to two stars.
