About Us

Old World Rugs has been your rug experts on the central coast for 40 years. Our family continues to curate a beautiful selection of new, traditional, vintage, contemporary, and custom rugs in our downtown shop. We provide design consulting, home trials, and custom rug sizes. We work closely with designers and have a program to offer designers samples and specialty pricing. We have a professional cleaning and repair facility located in SLO, where we hand-wash and care for all types of rugs. We provide pick up and delivery service on the Central Coast. We look forward to working with you! Visit us at our downtown San Luis Obispo showroom, Tuesday - Friday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Old World Rugs patiently showed me lots and lots of rugs, and didn't mind at all that I kept leaving and coming back later to look at more. After 6 months, I found two I liked. The best part of the process was when Old World Rugs brought both of them out to my house so I could choose the best one while seeing it in my own living room!

Old World Rugs has continued to amaze me over the years. Their products have always been exceptional in quality and price, making it incredibly accessible for what you are getting. Dana and the whole team have gone above and beyond to remain professional and at the same time hold a special personal relationship with their customers. Something I feel is important in a community like San Luis Obispo. I am always looking forward to the opportunity to pay a visit or inquire about a new project. I Can't wait to return!

Old World Rugs is a pleasure to work with. The selection in the store is quite extensive plus they are willing to help you find other rugs that might not be in their inventory. Overall, I would rate Old World a 10 plus, great service, knowledgeable and fair pricing.

We recently moved from a house with all carpet to one with all hardwood and needed several new rugs. Dana and Harold at Old World Rugs were fantastic, and came to the house multiple times to understand our needs and style. They then brought several rugs for us to try and were very patient while we took a few weeks to make final decisions. They are deeply knowledgeable about rugs, countries of origin, rug construction and maintenance, and style. We're very happy with the experience and what we ended up purchasing, and highly recommend Old World Rugs.

We had a family room rug cleaned by Old World Rugs and unfortunately after it was cleaned the latex backing began to disintegrate. The rung was not that expensive originally and was over 12 years old. We worked with Dana to find a higher quality hand tied replacement rug. After narrowing the choices down to about 6 rugs she brought them all out to our house to see how they went with our furniture and decor, She then left the 2 finalists in our home for a week so that we could make sure which one we liked the best. We picked a Persian Bakhtiari rug and are thrilled with it. Throughout the process the staff of Old World Rugs was great to deal with. Very professional.

Dana Lossing of Old World Rugs is terrific. Dana is friendly, truly customer oriented, and, most important, has a keen design eye. She worked with us to find the perfect rug - which required special color and uncommon size. She was patient, creative and ended up helping us develop a new living room floor plan that is much more open and friendly. She made several visits to get it done right, and allowed us to "live" with the new rug for a couple of weeks to make sure we loved it. We have now bought two rugs from Old World Rugs, and love them both. Distinctive rugs, fair prices, outstanding service.

Old World Rugs is a great find! The shop is set apart from other rug stores because the rugs are nearly all one-of-a-kind and mostly hand woven. Many of them are old or antique but in top quality condition. We purchased an Indian rug and an antique Afganistan rug -- both lovely! The owners are personable, knowledgeable and very helpful. Their rugs are not the order online stamped prints...they are the real deal....lifetime rugs! We had a great experience with Old World Rugs and highly recommend!
