The pool was beautiful after the construction was complete. Over time, a fatal flaw has developed, with the cracking of a footer at one edge of the pool. This eventually resulted in cracks below the water line. After many months of wrangling, a repair was completed, and the pool surface looks nothing like the rest of the pool. Sad. In regard to the cracked footer, the "repair" was a patch of a crack without addressing the root cause of the problem. They are very good at side-stepping and delaying any issues that arise. I am disappointed that after a $70 K build, that the business DOES NOT stand behind its product. BEWARE.

Please do not use this pool company. They provide no customer service and they end up giving you sub-par products. I made all of my selections at the design center except the flagstone. They NEVER offered types of flagstone that I could choose from. The flagstone was chipping from the 4th week and never stopped. We also sealed the flagstone and that did not help. The flagstone chipped and fell into the pool causing stains. After your initial signing of the contract I never heard from them again. My neighbor also used Pool Concepts and they had the same issues. My question was why would you even sell a product like that?? They never answered my question. They also have what is called a pool school where they TRY to educate you on the maintenance of the pool. However, they could not do it after business hours and NEVER on a weekend. Moreover, when I did schedule pool school it was a joke. It was 30 minutes of setting up an app on the phone and another 15 minutes to go through everything. I ended up spending so much money on something that was sub standard, with no service and their pool guy never wanted to maintain the filter even though I was paying him to maintain the pool. Shotty workmanship and service!

First of all, let me say that our experience with Pool Concepts was absolutely fantastic! We did a lot of research on pool companies before we got started and ultimately, wisely chose Pool Concepts. From the very first day when we were getting quotes, Jason came out to our home and and started working on a design, with our budget in mind. I shopped around a bit and never felt nearly as comfortable with others in town. You won't find a nicer, hardworking and wanting to please it's customers, company. Once we finalized the deal and construction started, the entire crew was out to meet with us, introduce themselves, their roles and their contact info. From that point on, Ryan was our project manager and was on site overseeing progress on a very regular basis. Group text messages were sent throughout the entire process as to when crews would finish and the next phase would start. Ryan also went above and beyond standard customer service and made sure that our neighbors were taken care of. We had to remove a large section of fencing that we share with our neighbor and Ryan made sure to coordinate how we could temporarily secure the fence so that their dogs could still roam freely in their backyard during our construction. When it was discovered that the gate the neighbor was going to use didn't work properly, Ryan took it upon himself to go fix their gate so that our construction wouldn't interfere with their day to day lives, or at least as little as possible.
Each and every crew that showed up to do their specific job was very courteous, professional and above all, skilled at their trade. This was very evident because they were getting their jobs done in a very timely manner with consistent quality. Ryan and the quality control personnel were here checking the progress at multiple stages of construction and making changes as necessary or having any minor issues found, corrected immediately. Even our neighbors on the street have complemented our choice because of how professional, timely and beautiful the job went. If you're looking for a quality, local family owned company that cares about their customers and builds the highest quality pools for the money, you need look no further than Pool Concepts. Look into the fine print and details of the craftsmanship, you won't find this anywhere else. They also took great care in not disrupting the surrounding yards, neighbors, etc... And that meant a lot to us.
The construction is solid, using the larger steel to adhere the concrete. The flagstone is perfectly matched so that it's an even size all around. They even sanded the edges of the flagstone along the edge of the pool so that you don't feel the sharp edges entering and exiting the pool. You won't find this level of quality for the money anywhere else.
Having a pool built is a stressful and a time consuming job no matter what. But I can tell you that from the multiple people I talked to that have had this done, our experience was by far the best.
Thank you Pool Concepts, our family is enjoying the new pool on a daily basis!

Jason Ordaz and pool concepts were great from the beginning.
They were already 10k less than their competition.
If there was a problem it was taken care of ASAP! Leo was very helpful and always keeping my posted on what was going on.
They designed a pool and it cane out better than we could have imagined.
We are happy and would recommend them to family and friends!

The pool project performed by Pool Concepts was a $77000 pool and spa in conjunction with a custom home build. On the front end, our sales person Mike Ellenwood was very responsive. During construction, we had a pool superintendent, Dre, that was also good but was “let go” by the company for poor performance. The pool was quoted to be complete prior to closing the house; they had 9 months to complete the pool. We closed in December on the house. The pool was not finished. The stone and tile as poorly done and the quality of stone was not what we selected. The pool fittings on our pipes were also not installed. When it was done they were different colors. At this stage, Mike Ellenwood stopped returning my calls. I had to call the office to get someone to respond. My builder was also working from his end to get the pool complete. In March, the owner Pete Ordaz and his son Ryan came to the house. They made promises and apologies. The stone was replaced 12 weeks later. I called him 4 weeks later and he said there was some kind of ordering issue – the real issue was money – he could have bought the stone outright and then worked with his vendor that supplied the bad stone. The tile was poorly installed with grout on top of the glass tiles – this was a bigger issue. They sent someone to clean it all and failed. Ultimately, they did not resolve this issue. Our entire spa is glass tile – it was a lot of bad looking tile. My builder had to send a tile person to clean the tiles and get them back to their original state. There were several small issues to close at the pool. We had 6 deck jets that spray from the sides and meet in the middle. There was one that never worked properly. They came out and worked on it at least 6 times. Ultimately, I figured out that that the line going to that jet was broken and leaking water which is why it was not working. When they finally fixed it – the arcs of water could not be the same size. My pool guy had to titrate them to fix it. The pool side spa controls – they drilled a hole in the stone that was larger than the controls – the Pool Concepts installer filled the gaps with concrete. It was absurd. When I texted Ryan about the poor install, he said it was the only size drill bit that he had. It took 4 weeks to get a new piece of stone and reinstall the controls.
Overall, I would not recommend this company. I went with them because of negative experiences within our neighborhood with other pool companies. After starting our pool with Pool Concepts, we have 3 families that had pool concepts buildering their pools. They were all just as frustrated as I was with their install. I also went with them because they are advertised as a family business; this did not seem to matter to them. It is a poorly run company, poor customer service, and they do not put the customer first. The quality of stone and tile work is awful.

Comment from Pool Concepts by Pete Ordaz:
Mr and Mrs Arthurs, we apologize for your experience with Pool Concepts. There is no excuse for the many of the issues in this complaint. However, there are some details that must be expressed. The home builder had to re-pour the concrete deck around the pool and in the process our stone was stained and the tile was splattered with concrete(see pics). The pic of the spa side remote has since been fixed and the stone is cut more accurate so that limited grout is seen around the remote. The concrete splatter was difficult to remove without damaging the tile or using harsh chemicals that could damage the concrete decking. The Leuder stone was ultimately replaced because there were small mold stains due to packaging materiel between the pieces. It took a long time to convince our stone supplier that there were these packing errors because all they saw was the topical damage of the concrete staining(by home builder). This was the majority of the delay. Once we were given the ok by our supplier, it did take some time for our new stone supplier to custom cut the new Leuder stone. This was out of our hands as Pool Concepts does not custom cut Leuder stone. It did take weeks longer than expected. The broken deck jet line was broken by the home builder/fence guy and once I determined that the line was broken, a plumber was out the next day to make the repair at no charge. Per customer request; Pool Concepts replaced the entire filter internal assembly manifold and grids due to all of the debris from the builders new concrete pour and the new stone Leuder being replaced. Overall, the experience you had is a rare occurrence with Pool Concepts as our Houzz reviews and BBB record reflects. I would ask that you post a picture of your entire pool project now as this will show that the job was not left incomplete and is a very beautiful project. Pool Concepts has responded to each and every concern or complaint and although the repairs were slow, the pool was completed as contracted to do so. We are willing to do whatever we can to make our customers happy. We encourage Mr. Arthurs to contact us for anything that is still pending and we will promptly get it taken care of. Thank you.
My wife and I got 3 bids on our pool and outdoor kitchen. We are so happy that we chose Pool Concepts to do the work. We started with just a basic idea of what we wanted, but George Wieland (sales and designer) took that info and designed a beautiful pool. With any big project like this, there will always be hiccups along the way. The thing that was so impressive with Pool Concepts is that they were always very responsive to any issues that came up. Thank you, Miguel, (project mgr.) for staying on top of things. And last but not least thanks to Kent and Brad for getting the pool swim ready with all the touch up work and pool chemicals. We are very happy with our beautiful pool and our kids will enjoy it for many years to come.

Five years ago Jason and his team fro m Pool Concepts built a beautiful pool in our back yard. We could not be any more pleased with the pool and the equipment. We enjoy it everyday. Wish we would have built it sooner. Pool Concepts is a great company. I would recommend them to anyone.

Pool Concepts was amazing. I've worked Air Force construction for over 20 years so know the difference. Did a ton of research and received full designs from San Antonio's Big 4 pool contractors. Pool Concepts had the best design, most competitive pricing and an outstanding construction crew that was responsive throughout the entire process. George is an incredible designer that masterfully solved some significant elevation challenges we had and Dre the construction site lead was always on top of it, responded immediately to questions and always followed up. After 2 months of using the pool I have to say from design to construction to using it, everything went flawless. Would recommend Pool Concepts over any other San Antonio pool builder in a second! -Marc

We recently made a HUGE move from San Diego, California, to Spring Branch, Texas, where we built our "dream home" on Canyon Lake. Pool Concepts and the Ordaz Team became significant partners in completing our dream.
Our builder, Johnny Long, had the Pool Concepts Team ready to work with us, and from the moment we met Jason, Ryan and their Team, it has been nothing short of a Fantastic experience! They listened to our "vision" and then created a fabulous, unique pool complete with waterfalls, lights, swim-up bar and more! They are Super creative and everyone at Pool Concepts subscribes to the "Do What You Say You Will Do" philosophy! Work began immediately and was finished ahead of schedule. Most importantly, we had constant communication during the construction AND follow-up communication after completion. CUSTOMER SERVICE doesn't get any better than that!
I can't imagine anyone NOT using Pool Concepts for their "dream home!" They are simply the Best! Not only do we have a gorgeous pool that people ask to see on a regular basis, but we also have new Texas friends within the Ordaz Team. Recently, our home was featured in Timeless Luxury Homes Showcase, and our pool was the center of attention. We're still smiling!

I have worked with many pool builders throughout the years, and by far Pool Concepts tops them all. There attention to detail on there designs is like no other. Ryan and the crew really strive to make sure the pool building experience is everything you dreamed of. If you're looking for a company that strives to go beyond expectations, I highly recommend Pool Concepts. You will get a swimming pool like no other.
