About Us
At Porter Davis, we like you to know our belief about why we exist and what we hold true. We think what we do matters, because a new home is so much more than bricks and mortar. We believe a new home is the foundation to the picture of how life should and can be.
It promises the future and frames the past. It stands strong when the dream may weaken. It flexes to change, stays steady when life runs wild. To us, the idea of a home goes way beyond construction, or service, or design or style. It’s the very cornerstone of life’s hopes and aspirations.
And it’s a brave thing to create. We understand and respect that - and those who set out to create their dreams around a new home. We appreciate the fragility of such visions and we exist to protect and nurture those dreams.
It’s why above all, we exist to respect the dream.

Very poor customer service.
Outsourcing defects to third party
1 year and still not closed out , what a joke . then the quality off defect’s resolution is very poor.
Site supervisors over worked , lucky to have been on house for 30 minutes a week, this missing lots of key items to build .
Avoid them

We started discussing with one of the maples consultants and had already decided to put 2 k deposit to hold base price
We were told to go see world of style first
Then we did ...after initial discussions the contract was just above budget and we told we will make some cuts to come to our budget
Then there was lockdown so I said I will get back after same but had advised and shown i was keen to settle 2 k to hold price
So I would have expected when prices go up or are expected to go up that my home consultant would advise me of this so I could pay the 2 k to hold this
She never did. In mid October I advised I wanted to meet about finalising contract when lockdown ends toward end oct
And told to contact me but she didn't so from 1st week November I called multiple times n messaged but no pick no reply.
Then I called main number and advised I can't get through to my consultant and then she messaged saying she'll call first thing in morning
I didn't receive a call in morn so then I messaged her....by then I had lost faith in her so I made up my mind to change consultants as we felt we weren't a priority.
When we met new guy he was good n friendly but advised base price change n hence price gone further up and after all cuts we made it came to initial price as base price increase of 36k
This was unfair to us as we were keen to settle 2k in Initial meeting as we had set our mind on astor grange and porter davis
We were never advised of prices going up
But porter davis refused to stick to base price when we were in discussion even though fault clearly with consultant
They agreed to reduce 10k and that was it
Very unhappy with this service

My partner and I chose to go with Porter Davis and although we haven't started building yet, the process has been a nightmare. No-one replies to us, we've waited & constantly followed up for the past 7 weeks. Even our bank is chasing our construction manager and we are simply left with no idea what's happening. We are now dreading the build process

I am writing this letter after several weeks of thinking and reflecting on the frustrating events my parents have had to endure since building their house with Porter Davis back in 2013.
I am going to be neutral as possible in this piece of writing. Hence, be fair and honest. For those who cannot wait til my conclusion of my honest opinion regarding Porter Davis. It's this. Porter Davis is a Multi-million company with annual revenues of $550 Million (AUD) per year. They want to make profit. Ideally, they probably want every one of their customers to be happy with their service. However, given the size of the company, the huge dependence of sub-contractors for building and lack of effective building and property legislation, this creates holes in their service. The problem is that Porter Davis do not want to take responsibility of the problems they cause with their houses and will do anything to avoid paying compensation or delivering a fair solution. I am utterly embarrassed that a company can treat their customers like this and show no remorse, responsibility or accountability. For those who are planning to develop their home with Porter Davis , I would state - Caveat emptor. IF the stars align and your home is built well - great. However, any building defects, delays with repairs will not be prioritised and the only party who loses both financially and emotionally is you. They are a company driven on profit hence they do not want to invest time or money into customers who have already invested and will not bring further revenue to their company. I should mention that such a large company does not want their image to be tarnished hence they invest time and money promoting their image which in turn recruits customers. Porter Davis has been in strife by offering customers financial incentives if they provide positive reviews on their experience. This has caused ongoing controversies and they have investigated for such practices.

Since we have been in our house we have had nothing but trouble
After handover there were a few things that were outstanding, we were assured these would be sorted out ASAP:
Floor heating was broken
We had no plugs for the bath
Our cupboard door was broken
The painting was patchy
The house wasn’t cleaned of dust
A window was blemished
We had to ask for bath plugs
We paid the final payment as we had leave booked and trusted our site manager to get these issues sorted as promised
It took months of stress and calling contractors to get the issues seen to
Since then over the last 3 years our:
garage door has broken
The floor heating is broken again
A hole has opened up next to the stacker door
We’ve had cracked bathroom tiles
We have holes and birds in our roof
The oven racks are broken
The wooden floor edgings varnish washed off
Getting any of these issues dealt with is a nightmare involving multiple calls, service fees, trouble shooting and time off work.
Do yourself a favour and stay away from Porter Davis as they are nothing but trouble.

Porter Davis has a despicable customer service!!! Our new home of less than 6 months old now have cracks on the ceiling and instead of fixing it they sent a plasterer who drilled holes on it and the same day told us by email they will not complete the works. We spent a fortune for our new home and Porter Davis and their people at the head office have no manners or consideration for homeowners. No one should build with Porter Davis.

The company is using false advertisings and luring the customers to sign up with them. The Cost gets added with no real reasons. They are practically cheating people. The cost variation more than 25k from the sales quote. We were told, "This is how we do the business". Suggest all to go with any other builder even if you have to pay 10-20k extra. Do not believe in the Porter Davis promos. Do not pay any money until the contract signing and getting written consent to say that there would be no other cost for any reason beyond the signing. Don't trust the sales consultants. There will be many traps to get you signed, be aware and do not rush.

I will keep this factual:
Cons:
- Lack of transparency in pricing. Cost goes up from sales quote to tender, and then some more at contract. Lower prices quoted initially are a mistake,no ownership of errors or misreprestations. Surprise costs down the line in the order of $20-30k extra at contract.
- Lack of technical profesional competence. We flagged an issue with overshadowing at sales point, tender, and contract. We were assured by PD’s technical team that it was all within regulation. 6 months into the process: we need to rectify overshadowing by shaving off our Eaves, which are crucial to prevent slab heave.
- Communication: our building coordinator is above phone calls, and will only reply by email when she feels like it. Escalation point is non existent, we called PD customer service and the complaint then circled back to the original building coordinator. Never to the manager. The entire PD has one Indian lady on the phone for escalations. I can feel her frustration when we speak to her. Sometimes loosing her composure. If management ever reads this: you need to pay attention to this part of your customer journey. It is pretty unprofessional. A clear escalation procedure and employees with appropriate manners would go a long way.
-Pros:
Designs are probably one of the nicest around.
In balance: if you can spare the cost of extending your build by an additional 6-8 months of what is promised and can budget $100k on top of initial sales quote. Sign with PD at your own peril.
Our sincere recommendation would be to go with a smaller builder, where the owner actually cares about customer experience

Worst builders ever. Porter Davis had massive delays because they told me at the last minute that I needed a storm water pump installed that costs $30k. After handover, my landscaper inspected all the pipe work and many of the pipes were damaged and broken and not draining water. What’s worse is that they forgot to connect power to the water pump, and also forgot to install the control box. It was such a big job it took them several weeks. Worst of all, they forgot to dig so that the water would be pumped off the property. So it was actually being pumped back into the house and flooding itself. When I told them about all the damage and the incomplete job, they said lucky there was not much rain... The house was not livable at this time. So I asked for compensation. And they said, no compensation because your house didn’t flood in the time. It took them another 2 months to finish off the job. I basically paid them $30k for a pump system, that they didn’t even install properly. And my house could have flooded at any minute, but all they said was, lucky we didn’t get much rain! They even gave me a certificate complying the pump system when it wasn’t even 50% done right! Would not recommend to anyone.

Our experience with Porter Davis (PD) Started back in 2016 when we first bought land and were looking for a house to build. We went to the display homes in Rockbank where [name removed]- The salesman showed us around the Rochedale 33. At the time we loved it though due to certain reasons we had to delay purchasing. [name removed] was very respectful and didnt hassle constantly but kept in touch asking to catch up and discuss the house. By July 2017 we finally signed the contract for the house which had a fantastic promotion included.
The next step was the World of Style. We went there on the weekend to have a practice run which is highly recommended. The amount of different options is huge! and we were very glad we went before our appointment. On the day all the staff at each area were very helpful, the understood our budget and helped design our house with us.
This was a two day appointment at the start of September. The next step was to sign our contracts at the head office in the city. this was straight forward.
We finally got our site cut date, and slab pour date. Due to this being in December rain and heat delayed it until the 15th of December.
Once the Slab was set there was time off for Christmas break which was noted to me on the time i signed the contract.
During this time there was a 2 month delay as my site supervisor and building coordinator both resigned within the same week. At the time it may have been very frustrating but it could have been a blessing in disguise as my new Building Co-ordinator [name removed] and Site Supervisor [name removed] were absolutely fantastic.
From day one of [name removed] being in charge to even this day, [name removed] was extremely clear with what was happening with the house. He was extremely knowledgeable and had plenty of time to walk through the house with me, explain to me things i didnt understand and accommodate me. He was always available to answer my thousands of questions and was extremely switched on with the build.
[name removed] was very much the same as David, she picked up my contract and seemed to know it from front to back, she understood everything i needed and helped me through the way with all my questions. The communication between both [name removed] , [name removed] and myself was exceptional and I am extremely glad that these two helped me through my build.
The house was completed on November 26th, so overall it was about 11 months of building. I was expecting this time frame especially with the hand over to [name removed] and the Christmas break. You cant rush building a house and the quality of it shows that they didn't, and they have done it correct. Other than a few issues on handover such as paint touch ups which will be fixed everything was exactly as we wanted and what we asked for.
I cant thank [name removed] and [name removed] enough, as well as all the other staff such as [name removed] in sales and the builders. I was never hesitant building with Porter Davis and i hope anyone reading this review know that they shouldn't worry one bit building with them.
