Silva Timber Products

We have just used Silva Timber to purchase Cedar wood fence slats for our garden. The build was part of a wider project which we were paying our gardeners day rate for. When placing the order (which was in excess of £1,000) for the wood, we were advised we would have to wait 15 days and we planned the build of our garden accordingly around this. The day before delivery (late in the afternoon) we were advised that they didn't actually have the wood and we would be receiving only a third of what we had ordered and the rest would come the day after. This was very annoying as our gardeners were trying to complete our build before moving onto a new project. They had saved the installation of the Cedar wood fence for the final day so this last minute change meant they would have to come in an extra day to finish the job. They installed what they could and we waited for the delivery of the remaining slats - only to be told the next day that Silva Timber still didn't have the wood and would now be delivering the remainder sometime next week!! We complained about this as our gardener would be moving onto a new job and had already waited an additional day for delivery so they promised us the would arrange a delivery for the following day in the AM (Saturday morning). Saturday morning came - both us and the gardeners were waiting for the delivery. No delivery came. Silva Timber does not open on weekends so there was no one for us to refer to and Silva Timber never provided us with a courier name or tracking number. Our gardener was prepared to make an exception and work the weekend to get the job done (despite Silva Timbers misgivings) but in spite of this gesture of goodwill the fence has still not been completed. He is now working on a new project from Monday and will not be available to complete this job for us for weeks :( Silva Timbers customer service and supply chain capability is up there with the worst. They over promise - under deliver and accept no responsibility whatsoever for any inconvenience caused by their shoddy service. Once they have your money all customer service goes out of the window and while their website is nice and shiny their performance with regard to rectifying issues is abysmal. If seeking Western Cedar please avoid this company at all costs and look for an alternative supplier - closer inspection of their delivery terms and conditions include ridiculous clauses such as a) Silva Timber reserve the right to deliver at in point up to 3 months from the date they specify to you and b) they do not pay compensation for any misdemeanour or hardship or delay to your project which is caused on their part and c) customers will be liable for any parking ticket fines or damage to their vehicles that are sustained while delivering their products to you!! Unbelievable. To say I am livid is an understatement -I will never use this company again and I would also advise others not to, particularly if you are working on a project or to a tight schedule. I wish I had read Trust Pilot reviews before opting to go with this supplier.

We have used Silva Timber's cedar products on several of our gardens and can't fault them on bit. Their cedar battens are great quality and the service and advice they offer is great. We will continue to work with Silva Timber for many years to come.

We used Yellow Balau from Silva Timber for a deck area in a large terrace patio and also to build some cupboards either side of an outdoor fireplace. The finished product (after oiling) looks great and the clients are very happy. As the designer I am very happy with the quality and the overall look.
