I am very happy with the exterior stairs ordered through Boston Stair. They fit well in the limited space available, while still being comfortable to negotiate. They look great and are very solid. The installers, Jason and Daniel were very diligent, did a good job and were nice to work with.

These people know their stuff, I had a This Old House question about an old staircase. I just had a question, the owner totally sent me in the right direction with getting custom ballusters and how to attach my new railing with out using a cheesy Home Depot escutcheon plate. If I ever need to hire a stair contractor, I'm using these smart, experienced and helpful folks.

This company does not manufacture stairs any more. I was trying to support a local artisan and instead found myself without a staircase but with one that was maybe being made by a totally different company - not in Massachusetts but in Pennsylvania. Mary came to my house and told me the process by which her "family company" made the stairs and never mentioned that they no longer manufacture staircase. So - I have a space where a staircase should be and no way to get to my second floor.

With an impeccable reputation as the (37 years) third generation owner of this company; This Old House appearance (services not donated in exchange for) twice; HGTV Dream House; stairs provided for Ocean Spray; Odessa Petroleum Club; Patriots Owner; etc., this is the only person who has anything bad to stay. Her daughter is a 'woodworker', we exchanged our knowledge, and when asked, I explained the process of building a wood spiral with a laminated skirt board. The discussion never came up of whether I still manufactured (I am a Manufacturer's Rep now after closing down the plant due to my daughter's illness). I went to her house and took measurements; layout sketches; designed the stair and did the shop drawings; placed the order. Because of that service, I was able to design a staircase that would be very comfortable considering her size 4 shoe and short stature, which no-one else would offer. I told her where the stair was being built, she canceled the order, got a full refund, and went direct, using my design layout. Lessons learned, if that's the only time I run into someone like that, I am blessed.
