About Us

Watershed Building Group is located on Sydney’s Norther Beaches. Preferred builder by a number of local Architects & Interior Designers, our reputation has been built on the delivery of high finishes and the desire to achieve results above our client’s expectations. We treat all projects as a collaborative process between client, architect and builder as we understand some of the best outcomes can come during the construction process when clients can start see design concepts finally come to life. Business owner David Hawkes has over 25 years in the building industry, originally starting his career as a Landscaper. After running a successful landscaping business for a number of years, David moved his attention to working and training as a carpenter before completing his study’s and obtaining his builders license. David’s belief is that the combined knowledge enables him provide his clients with an all round understanding between home and garden design, ensuring to the two area’s connect in the best possible way.

Having recently completed a large project, built by Watershed Building Group, I would thoroughly recommend David and his team. This was the second renovation that Watershed Building Group completed for us and we had no hesitation returning to David for the second job, having achieved a great outcome with renovation number one. David is easy to communicate with, thus ensuring a smooth builder / client relationship. Our second renovation was of a significantly larger scale and was completed within the stated timeframe and with an exceptionally high level of workmanship. The team's ability to adapt to some changes through the project and deliver a fantastic final product has been noted by us and commented upon by all who visit our new home.

Watershed carried out a major renovation on our home in Balgowlah Heights. We made the (questionable!) decision to live in half a house while they carried out the work - and we couldn't have been happier with the Watershed team, the quality of the work, timeliness, communication and project management. The team made living with the impact bearable and David went out of his way to explain every step and issue (including the inevitable surprises that come with renovating a 90-year-old timber house). David also worked very well with our designer, who also hold the highest possible standards. The outcome exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hestitate to recommend Watershed.

We have had a very good experience overall with David and Watershed during our apartment renovation in Manly, and we have no hesitation in recommending his building services. From initially meeting David 3 years ago, while working on a neighbours renovation, to the completion of our project this month, we have been impressed with him and his team at Watershed. He was able to assemble and manage a quality team of trades, including cabinet maker, plumber, electrician, plasterer and renderer, painter, tiler etc.. and they all combined to produce a quality finish, all the while being proactive in making suggestions which enhanced the end product. David’s attention to detail, organisational skills and calm manner flowed through to all of his trades and gave us a level of comfort at all times. As we said, we would happily recommend Watershed for any project, big or small.

I have now used David and his team from Watershed Building for 3 projects and have recommended him to many of my friends and family. David is not your usual builder, he works with you to find the best outcomes for you. If he can find a better way of making something work or look better he will. His work is of the highest quality and his output and final finishes are of the highest standard. I would not use another builder for any future work. He is very personable and a pleasure to work with.
