Architects in Seattle, WA
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars18 August 2015
“Nothing about E WORKSHOP is cliché. Having worked with Chris as collaborator and client, I am perhaps in a special place to observe that inherent to his design process are old school values that today sometimes get lost in the pace, namely loyalty and sincerity. When he re-visioned the roofline on our home it brought everything into balance, including budget and construction efficiency. With respect to design itself, materials of beauty, and partnership with you, E WORKSHOP can and will do anything of any scale for your home, from accessory to small or large remodel to new construction. If you are looking for an architecture practice with classical backbone, unremitting attention to quality, and a fresh spirit: this is it.”

Scott Becker | Architect
Architects in Seattle, WA
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars13 April 2014
“I have collaborated with Scott on several projects and can assuredly recommend him as a fantastic architect to work with. As a client you want your architect to listen and understand your goals, to put his/her ego aside and design what is practical and esthetically relevant to you and your family, and most importantly support you through the entire experience with utmost professionalism, knowledge of the process and understanding of your budget. Scott delivers all that and more; he is experienced in a variety of styles, has creativity and skills coupled with the analytical sense to construct a solution that is not only visually stunning but delivers good cost/benefit balance over the future years maintaining the space. If you happen to review his work be it modern, traditional, or Nantucket beach-home style you will find a correlation among all of them - spaces he designs are elegant and classy without loud statements that transients through time and connects each home with their owners.”

“The team at McClellan Architects were fabulous to work with and we love the home they designed for us. It's not only beautiful, but it's very functional. McClellan Architects listened to our needs and created an amazing house for our family to build a lifetime of memories in. The home was even given a design recognition award by the American Institute of Architects. I'd highly recommend McClellan Architects.”

“After hearing countless horror stories about the remodel and construction process, I have to say that architect Jeff Babienko and his team at bARC have made the journey better than we could have ever imagined. His approach, vision, professionalism and attention to detail are nothing less than top notch. Babienko has a very thorough up-front exploration process that we thought a bit excessive, but discovered that it is this very process that allows him to steward the project with all the nuances of "feel", aesthetic and functionality that we were after with the remodel. While we forgot certain elements of what we wanted along the way, he and his team did not. It was amazing! The entire journey was a very collaborative, seamless and an entirely transparent process. His expertise as the interface with the construction team was invaluable and we can't imagine having done it any other way. We won't work with anyone else!”
Rhodes Architecture + Light
Architects in Seattle, WA
Average rating: 4 out of 5 stars10 October 2013
“My wife and I have a difficult lot to build a house on due to its irregular slope, steep in some areas. In order to have a view of Puget Sound the main floor had to be as high as possible. Before hiring Rhodes Architecture + Light we met with a few builders who do their own design work. They were unable to come up with an acceptable way to achieve the floor height we need. This drove us to look for an architect. We selected Tim Rhodes because we liked his portfolio of completed projects and after meeting him felt we could trust him to do the job. Tim came up with a very clever design that incorporated all our requirements. We've been living in the house 14 months and are quite pleased. Tim's design gets many compliments from first time visitors. The only reason I didn't give Rhodes Architecture + Light five stars is cost estimation and control. Our construction cost ended up 40% above my desired target. To be fair this is common when building a house.”

“We LOVE working with Heidi at H2D A+D. Down to earth, super creative, and exceptionally organized. Having completed projects of all types and sizes we know first hand how important it is to have an effective leader guiding things from the beginning. Each time we work with Heidi the plans are thorough, clear, & easy to interpret… so that by the time we show up to perform our tasks, we are set up to do nothing but succeed. Each job has that enjoyable, team approach and energy. And who wins? Everybody! Thanks Heidi!”
eric gedney | ARCHITECT
Architects in Seattle, WA
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars13 August 2013
“Bottom line: as a contractor who has worked with many architects Eric Gedney is one of the best I've worked with. Here's why: 1) Eric places the highest priority on serving his clients needs first. He has nothing to prove and no ego that needs constant stroking. 2) Eric is highly personable and is a great listener - he also has a wry sense of humor that makes his projects fun to be a part of. He works hard to establish a good connection with his clients and has an amazing ability to translate client wishes - even odd ones - into build-able reality. 3) Eric understands the importance of collaboration and team building and seeks to build the team early in the process. Contractors can easily be marginalized in this relationship and its not uncommon for them to be made the "bad guy" especially as costs grow with design. Eric listens and even defers to contractor input and will revise his plans to accommodate. 4) Eric has a great sense of design, scale, proportion, balance, flow and style which of course is important in an architect. But Eric also possesses a clear understanding of "real life played out in a space". Nothing frivolous, rather, there is a purpose for everything even if the purpose is just to create a deeply personal statement which sums up the clients taste and style. Further, nothing Eric does is run-of-the-mill everything is custom tailored to support the clients desires. 5) Finally, Eric can design to meet budget requirements and even though compromise may hurt he is able to scale a project down to help it get built (he is also happy to scale it up!). This is a very important trait in an architect as many projects in our industry die after design and clients are left with a really nice project that will never be built. A final word of advice to potential clients: when Eric suggests you choose your contractor early on in the process - do it! This is the best way to ensure your project hits your budget goals and building the team early pays off in many remarkable ways.”
DeForest Architects
Architects in Seattle, WA

“We are the owners of the Yum Yum Farm in Iowa. We immediately connected with John and he was truly our Sherpa throughout the conception, design, and construction processes. He translated and expanded/enhanced our ideas into a wonderful home that continues to reveal itself to us and feels more like a part of our family than the shelter in which we live. We strongly recommend a conversation with DeForest architects before making a final decsion!”
