About Us

With 50 years in the industry, ‘Chateau Architects + Builders’ is family owned and operated, an alternative to the traditional model of bespoke home creation. Chateau’s architects, cost consultants and builders work collaboratively through every stage of a project’s development, a fully integrated service. With in-house skills and experience across all the building disciplines. Every home is custom designed and master built. The concept of Chateau Homes was first contemplated by Company Director Malcolm McDonald in November 1969 with the view to providing home buyers with a luxury, custom design alternative to project home building. By April 1970 the company was registered in the name of Chateau Constructions, later to become ‘Chateau Constructions (Aust.) Limited’ and in recent times the additional registration of ‘Chateau Homes’ and ‘Chateau Developments’. Chateau’s success is based on continued commitment to service, quality and innovation, providing both custom individual architectural design solutions together with premium quality construction. This holistic approach ensures that the project from concept to completion is seamless and that optimum value is achieved. In this, we remain a leader in today’s elite residential marketplace, exceeding the expectations of Sydney’s most discerning clients.

Sydney Flooring is a family owned and operated business much like Chateau. We have been operating since 1959 and have been supplying and installing timber flooring Chateau since the early seventies. Our association with Chateau began with Malcolm McDonald and for many years has included his sons Alex & Rod. Working with Chateau is a pleasure as they are reputable people who demand quality from their sub-contractors. A lot of Chateau’s work is cutting edge and we enjoy the challenge of contributing to their success of building you your dream home.

Chateau Architects + Builders fully designed and built our new house on the lower North Shore of Sydney. What started out as a daunting process for us was professionally handled right the way through by Chateau's experienced teams. Communication lines between ourselves and the architects, tradespeople and admin staff were always open and transparent. Questions and issues were always addressed promptly giving us a sense of control and partnership in the process. Most importantly the final results were great.

We employed Chateau to build our family home and were very happy with Chateau's level of work and professionalism throughout the long process. We think the house speaks for itself and we are settling in and look forward to many years of enjoyment in it for our family thanks to Chateau’s efforts. Each Chateau employee dealt with had a large amount of experience and loyalty to this longstanding family business. Building a house was originally quite daunting, but with Chateau's guidance and skill set we were always confident in achieving a great product despite the various obstacles encountered. We highly recommend their services.

Chateau designed and built our wonderful family home. We did our research in advance, including speaking to people in the industry, and the Chateau name was consistently appearing at or near the top. We cannot speak highly enough of Chateau. The design, build and post-build support experience was absolutely first rate. Their commitment to quality was unwavering - they genuinely invest in their well-deserved reputation. They answered all our questions along the way and took pains to ensure we were across the issues and comfortable with where things were at. You will undoubtedly find cheaper options out there if cost is your sole decision variable, but when you're considering an investment decision of the significance of a 20-30 year family home, for us it was about getting the right balance of quality and value. We would be happy to speak personally to anyone considering building with Chateau

Commented: colourHi Kirah, Since Dulux is our standard supplier, we had to colour-match a 'Porter Paints' colour called 'Porters Sable'. The closest Dulux colour to 'Porters Sable' would most likely be 'Whisper White'...
