This review is well overdue to say the least. However, it probably carries more weight as it hasn't been written in the immediate "honeymoon period" where everything is likely to be unrealistically fantastic. However, I'm delighted to report that after moving in some 2 years ago, it is absolutely fantastic! We simply could not be happier with the home David Barr designed for us, and his careful oversight during the build stage. Right from the initial planning meeting, it was clear we had landed on the right team. David very quickly understood what we wanted and was more than happy for us to generate ideas and collaborate along the way. David's ideas and suggestions were excellent and anything but cookie cutter. We pretty much adopted all of his ideas. His selection of materials and critically, his suggested builder (Interstruct), ensured what we all thought was achievable became a reality. There's always going to be some compromise when building, and we had to rein ourselves in at times, but working closely with David, we found a way and didn't end up with any regrets. From a back office perspective, everything was completed with utmost professionalism, including plans, approvals, accounts, etc. If you are reading this and want to work with someone who genuinely gets it, and is as invested as you are in your dream home, look no further. David and his team hit our brief from the very first sketch. David is precise, approachable and extremely professional. He always accommodates our schedule for meetings and will go above and beyond to ensure we are happy with all aspects of the house design. During the entire design phase we have not once had to follow up with him or his team, they have been attentive and on top of every stage of the process! I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting a house to be designed to high specification. We look forward to him continuing the journey by project managing the entire build to the end. David and team- we can't wait for the next phase with you!

We engaged David Barr as an architect after seeing an extension he had done on Wray St in Fremantle, where we liked the modern design in contrast to the more traditional existing building. We engaged David to design an extension at the back of an existing Federation cottage, which would include an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area and a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. We also wanted to include a double car garage in the plans, to be built further down the track. We really enjoyed the design experience, which started with an architectural brief. David was always available and open to our ideas but at the same time he had his own point of view and aesthetic. The result of this combination was an exciting and distinctive design. As an owner builder project we probably had more questions that most but David never seemed to grow tired of talking about the project. He has a real passion for his work, which has become obvious as the project has developed. We are close now to moving in and are looking forward to living in our beautiful new home and to toasting David at the housewarming later this year.

David won two architectural awards for our Westbury Cres renovation which we absolutely loved that we have hired him again to design a new addition for our current home. We can't wait to see the finished product.

David Barr worked with us from the beginning to the end of our home renovation. We were impressed was his ability to work with us to identify our options for the project and then problem solve throughout the process. He also came up with some innovative solutions to our space constraints. We had none of the angst we hear is often associated with renovation projects. We've been back in the house for two years now. We love the design, the finishes and the integration with our original 120 year -old home.
