“Jamison Architects met the design brief in every way, the project came in on budget, the home looks and feels amazing. Everyone that comes to visit us is blown away by the functionality, look and feel of the end product, it has met or exceeded our expectations in every way. Mark and Angela were able to help us capitalise on the amazing views our block has to offer, they overcame the challenging east-west building aspects and even the south facing entertaining and living areas. “I engaged Design Studio 22 to help me plan and design extensive renovations to my old weatherboard house. It's a particularly complicated job due to a tricky shaped site and existing issues with the building. Rick and Lyn have guided me step by step all the way through the process. Our initial meetings and discussions over the phone were all about listening, they really got to know me and what I wanted to achieve. After that they communicated very well every step of the way, linking me up with key sub-contractors and negotiating the technical aspects of the planning in a way that I could understand. When elements of the design required decisions from me, the options were laid out in an email and then we would discuss over the phone. If I made a suggestion that would result in a change to the plans, this was considered appropriately. The answer was not always "yes, we can do that" because some of my suggestions were not technically feasible. When this was the case, we discussed my idea in detail so I could understand what the future construction risks were and reassess my decision. I found these discussions incredibly valuable and I welcomed the open and honest relationship we formed. Having your design team be experienced enough to challenge some of your ideas is the best way to mature your plans and end up with a project that is achievable both technically and financially. What was the result of all this? I have a set of designs and engineering plans that I'm 100% happy with; that reflect what I wanted to achieve; and that I have confidence that I can give to a builder today and they could start work tomorrow.
